PSX Backup doesn't seem to work

I just used Alcohol 120% to burn a .ccd backup file to a Fujifilm CD-R, of RE: Director's Cut Dual Shock Edition. The correct Playstation files are on the disc and it runs properly on ePSXe (PSX emu), but when I swap it using my flip-top in place of my PSX Action Replay, it doesn't seem to work at all. Basically, the screen goes black as normal, but then it seems to make odd sounds when it spins up for a few seconds, and then it goes into a steady spin but nothing loads at all....

Is it possibly the CD-R? I burned it at 4X (my lowest speed). I burned an emulator to a CD-R (Which was actually a Sony brand one) and it worked fine.

Have you tried cleaning your laser lens? PS2 don't like CDs in general, that could be the problem.

I think a modded PS1 or emulator is your best option to play PS1 to be honest, I don't play my PS1 games on my PS2 cos I don't want to damage the laser (and it doesn't work with HDLoader either). ePSXe and pSX are two great emulators for it.

EDIT: The link in your sig seems to only cover PS2 DVDs and CDs. I'm looking to do a PSX/PS1 CD, although I did a similar procedure with Alcohol 120%. Did I miss anything at all?

Well the thing is, the CD I burned runs perfectly fine on emulators (well, as fine as an emulator can run a PSX game anyway, there was no sound in cutscenes) and I did that exact same procedure on your link.

I am going to try cleaning my lens, and if all else fails, I'll just have to re-burn and see if I get lucky.

The part where it says Burning a CD (Alcohol 120% v1.9.5 Build 3823), do I have to select Playstation 2 as the data type, even if my image is for Playstation 1? If so, then that's probably what I did wrong.
