hi all!
i have a pc wirelessly connected to a router and my xbox 360 plugged into my pc. i have been playting online etc with no problems for a while now. but suddenly my xbox wont connect. it tells me it cant get an ip address. but i dont think i changed anything..

my pc has a static ip but xbox is on auto (no luck if i set it up manually)

is it the lan network info that i need to change? i have setup various ips with no luck (if i set up a static network on the lan then (weirdly) azueous stops working...

any ideas what i can try? could it be norton i installed recently? (i checked but couldnt find any reason)

any help is greatly appreciated! i want the prey demo!

did you recently pw protect your network? try restarting your router? I dont know what else it could be :\

restarted many times.
no love.
whenever i setup my lan i get 'limited connectivity' (i.e. none...) wont even let me use flash fxp to connect to my old xbox...

You said you have your 360 plugged into your PC (I am assuming you have shared your internet connection? is it a Media Centre PC?). Try plugging your 360 directly into your router instead. Your router should automatically assign an IP address (windows is generally crap at this and thats probably why its stopped working).

You also said you tried assigning an IP address manually. What address did you give it? What IP address does your PC have?

i havent tryed connecting my 360 to my router as i like to stream music etc (xbox and xbox 360).

nope not a media centre pc. yep i clicked share connection on the lan tab.
pc is, 192.168.1.103 - 360 was 192.168.1.110. but didnt work so i put it back on auto. all other info (gateway etc is the same)

when i repair connection i get 'limited or no connectivity' and 'this problem occoured because the network did not assign a network address to this computer.)

should my lan ip be the same as my wireless?

i also have a 1394 connection in my network places. whats that for?

Right. Need to start at square one. I would suggest trying to use the router to make sure its something wrong with the PC. If it does work then try unchecking the share internet connection, restart the PC then share again. It might kick things back into action.

I have had problems like this before and had to reinstall windows from scratch! Arg.

The 1394 connection is probably a firewire port.

right. rebooted to no avail.
if i click the 'share internet connection box' i get a warning:

'your lan adapter will be will be set to use the ip address 192.168.0.1. your computer may lose connectivity with other connections on your network.' 'you should set them to auto.'

but auto means my router gives me a lease which i dont want. static works fine. why is it making me change it? grr i hate windows!

if i do change it nothing works!!! no internet no lan.

i have 2 other pcs on the network (1 wireless to the router, 1 plugged in and mine (which has my xbox/xbox 360) all are fine for the internet i just cant get my LAN going...
