I read you can do it with CD-R, but how can I back up my original firmware if possible without a floppy drive? I'll go buy one tomorrow if I have to.

no you can use a cd just make sure its a bootable cd

Ok cool. I finally got my PCI SATA today from http://www.newegg.com/ I hope to get a chance to try it all out tomorrow, but it might have to wait until sunday. I just didn't know what to do to back up the firmware.

oh but yea my bad i didn see somethin yu wrote im not relly sure how it backs it up i think you do need a floppy but dunno sorry im lil stuck..yu gotta sammy right...i relly only no how to do the hitachi

Yeah I have Samsung drive. My burner is a Samsung too which I think lead to some confusion when I asked a question about my burner. I thought maybe I could save the orginial firmware to the hard drive instead of a floppy, but I'm not sure.
