Replacing a Hitachi drive with a Toshiba/Samsung

I figure that with using KDX 1.5 and the original fw of my Hitachi drive, I should be able to change the key on a Toshiba/Samsung and make it work in my current 360. Is this correct? Of course I would need to find a Toshiba drive, but I would think this swap could be done.

Having an interesting time with my Hitachi drive. Just takes many tries to boot a disc. Originally they booted on power up, now I have to do the HD trick everytime time. Is this shortening the life of my drive? Sure wish I had a Toshiba drive to begin with... pain in the a$$

Im really don't think you can swap drives at all, each DVD-ROM get's "married" to the console as soon as you turn it on, I don't think there is away around this problem yet.
