Hey,

I know that Sata is a lot faster. But what does a faster harddrive actually mean?

Quicker windows? Im currently running an IDE Barracuda 200gb drive. My computer hasnt been running as fast as hoped. Could this be the harddrive speed?

Cheers
Lecsiy

The quicker the HD can talk to the MOBO & graphics card the better. One could infer smoother & faster performance. Most IDEs are 133Mb/sec, SATA 2.5 goes up to 3Gb/sec. That is one hell of an increase! Then, of course you have to have fast & lots of RAM (CAS 2 instead of CAS 3). This all has to be backed up by a fast CPU. Otherwise you will end up with a bottleneck, buy one get the rest, otherwise you will have wasted your time!
