Widescreen-Full Screen Changing Problem

I am having troubles burning a recently edited video file. I edited the file in Adobe Premiere. The video was shot in widescreen, but was stretched in Adobe while editing.
Now, when I burn the video files (4 seperate video files) the screen is stretched full from the beginning until 5 minutes in when it starts changing back and forth between wide and full screens.
I am using Nero Startsmart-Nero Vision Express 3 to burn. Any help solving this pesky problem would be greatly appreciated.

I would think the problem is the encoding from Premiere. Somewhere along the line the aspect ratio likely was changed during the editing process. It's also possible that the aspect ratio was inadvertently changed during "filming" as well. If you have the original recording, examine it for aspect ratio changes. Or re-edit the original taking care to ensure that the aspect ratio remains the same during editing and encoding.

Now how would I ensure that the screen changes don't occur in the encoding process?
The entire thing was shot 16:9.

How was the editing performed? Was there one long video file that was edited or were there several smaller video files that were edited and then joined/combined into a finished product? If it were the latter, i.e., several files, one of the settings may have been changed. It's also possible the default setting is 4:3 and needs to be changed each time you edit and encode a clip. Just make sure all the raw video actually views as 16:9.

How do I make sure the files view as 16:9?

I assume you're only burning with Nero and not editing. Is this correct? If so, Nero isn't changing the aspect ratio. If you're editing with NeroVision, then you have to make sure the aspect ratio is set to 16:9 in video options. Premiere also should have a menu option ot toolbar button for the aspect ratio. I haven't used Premiere for years and don't have a copy on hand. Program help should be able to aid you. There may be something else causing the problem but since editing of the video is occurring, it's m ost likely happening there and that's why this is being investigated first. Before encoding a clip in Premiere be sure to locate the aspect ratio button/option and make sure it's set for 16:9. If you're encoding in Nero, do the same. You are editing clips and then joining them together, are you not?

Yes, I'm editing clips and joining them together in Premiere. It's strange all of the video that shows up in Nero is 16:9, but stretched. All but the last 5 minute clip. This last clip is 16:9, but not stretched. But this is the clip I'm having problems with - as it's flipping back and forth between stretched and not stretched.
I thought it was related to the camera I used, which off hand I can't remember the model - Sony (but Sony what I do not remember). But I've had the problem come up again with another batch of clips which I taped with my normal Panasonic camera.
Anyway, I'm going to try and locate the aspect ratio button on Premiere. Thanks for all your help thus far laddyboy!

Does it appear to be 4:3 stretched to fit 16:9? Does the camera record in both 4:3 and 16:9?
I googles the following terms: aspect ratio adobe premiere
and got a bunch of hits about the maintain aspect ratio command in Premiere. That might help you for your problem but I didn't investigate further.
Have you tried any other editing packages like TMPG Author? It has a free trial. It's what I use. You'll have to use version 1.6 because 2.0 isn't fully functioning in the trial version. You can probably use Nero's NeroVision Express as well. Neither program is as sophisticated as Premiere.

This seems to be a Nero problem. Within Premiere I do not get the full to wide jump. The picture is stretched 16:9, but when it jumps in Nero (I can see this when I make chapter breaks) it is 16:9 regular and either jumps to stretched 16:9 or goes 16:9 wide to boxed (meaning black bars on the sides as well) and then back to 16:9 wide.
PLEASE HELP! MY SANITY IS FAILING!
I think I need hands on service. Would I go to a computer repair shop for this kind of problem, or what kind of shop would deal with video problems?
p.s. TMPG wouldn't allow me to use any of the files it tells me it doesn't encode or something? I couldn't understand what was going on with that program so I deleted it.

People who work on video charge a lot of bucks so it won't be dirt cheap. If this is something important, it may be worth the money to have an experienced professional do this for you. People who do wedding recordings, do this kind of editing and authoring all the time.
When you use the term stretched it generally means a 4:3 picture stretched to fit 16:9. Is that what you mean when you say the video is stretched in Premiere? If the project is what you want in Premiere, why not export it to DVD from Premiere itself?
Also in NeroVision what setting did you use for DVD Video? Click the More>> button, click the Video Options icon, click the DVD-Video tab. There are three options 4:3, 16:9, and automatic. That said, NeroVision doesn't always work correctly. Doesn't your version of Premiere have an Export to DVD option? Premiere is a much better program than NeroVision.

i don't think my imput will be of much use, but here goes...Premiere Pro 1.5 doesn't automatically adjust aspect ratios of DIFFERENT video clips if you place/splice different aspect ratio "raw footage" into it..you end up with jumpy changing aspect ratio as finished "movie"...but you said ALL the footage was shot with the same camera? the same settings? so that's what has me scratching my head...I've had the same problem with Premiere Pro before..but I was using "footage" from different sources..and had to encode each "clip" so they all would match size/ ratio. Maybe if you ran the last clip thru an encoder you could varify it's all the same 16:9. Perhaps, the suggestion of finding the "maintain aspect ratio" button is really good!( maybe I should have found it too..would have saved me alot of extra work)

another comment: If you used an expensive editing program like Premiere Pro to edit, why use $75.00 Nero progam to burn? Maybe if you try Adobe Encore DVD you might have better luck, should bridge nicely with big brother Premiere, Encore can be found "around" and "available" to download too.

OK, thanks for the advice here. I went ahead and got a trial version of Adobe Encore. Now, this might sound like a really stupid question, but how do I bring files up to be burned in it? My Premiere files don't show up. Do I have to do something to my finished files in Premiere in order to activate them in Encore?

I believe the commands are:
Export to DVD... Print to have Premiere make the DVD
Export to Encore to make menus and/or burn.
There used to be some short Premiere video tutorials here:
