I'm interested in comparing my optimal settings with other users, dvd ripping is basically a process of elimination when trying to disover the best playback quality.

My optimal ripping settings are:

Dimensions: 720x480
File output: .AVI (divx)
Codec: DivX 4.12
Bitstream: 1215kbps
Zoom: Full 16:9/4:3
Audio: 192kbps High Quality
1 pass video/audio
Program: Power DVD Ripper v1.02

These settings will usually generate a file size of between 750-900mb on average, and usually takes less than 3 hours.

Codec: XviD
Bitstream: varies (to generate either 700mb or 1400mb file)
Audio: original ac3
Passes:2
Program: AutoGK
