Can anyone help me, my bittorrent downloads go extremely slow (3kb at most) I use bitcomet to download the torrents, I have verizon dsl service with a westell 6100 modem with a DLink DL-524 router I have a Windows XP Media Center with the latest windows update,i have alot of problems. Here they are.
1.Bittorrent speeds go slow with 40 peers (3kb!) (can someone help me get faster speeds by telling me step by step on how to configure the router or modem.
2.Whenever i turn bitcomet on to download the torrent, while they are downloading, if i go to internet explorer to browse, the internet activity is very very slow, when i download something on internet explorer, the speed is 1 kb (what!) even if i go on another computer detecting the router wirlessly, it still goes so damn slow i have to close bitcomet and the speed goes to normal.(can someone help me with this to achieve faster internet activity with bitcomet on)
3.Sometimes my router has all lights on frozen like that, when that happens, the internet stops and i usually have to turn off and turn on the router or wait 2 hours and it goes back (can someone help me with this)
Can someone help me with this and fix these problems, it will be greatly appreciated thank you!

have you used any of those registry optimizing softwares that optimize your net connection.
if so that may be the problem, from personal experience after carrying out some optimizations my net slowed down HEAPS i mean i was transferring at bytes per second even though i was connected at 31.2KBps which should give me like 3kbps.
so that may be the problem

Hi there, im still new tho the torrent d/loads. I have been having the same problem for a very long time now, I was using Utorrent with speeds ranging from 20-50kBps that stated selected port was open with its port checker.
I then changed my isp which made Utorrents speeds go to bites and its checker now said warning: my port is running through a proxy and that i should visit portforward.com to mapp the port. I called the new isp and they advised that i am defanatly not connected through a proxy to which my internet settings state no proxy settings also,
I have port forwareded correctly, no firewalls are blocking inc windows, virus protection ect. I searched this site with a fine tooth comb, to which all guides, and advice have been tended to.. and still no answer.
I then tried Azureus which its checker states ports forwarded correctly. My ratio is good (green) same with my NAT status, but still only reaching speeds between bytes and 1.0kBps up to 5-10 every forghtnight possibly and only for a breif second (with 40 seeds / 24 peers)
my cpu is between 1 and 4 when running Azureus
running windows XP
media center 02 edition
service pack 2 on a
Acer Aspire
E500 intel (R)
pentium (R) 4 cpu 3.00GHZ
2.99GHZ, 512 MB ram.
connected on a ADSL 512/128 speed
**Any idea's? anyone?
i am currently going to update my modem which i have only had for about a year..if that, It is a D-Link DSL-302G generation 2 adsl modem if that helps, was sent out when connected to previous isp.
Thanks guys (and gals) for your input in advance! Take care:)
comp is acer aspire

heh, you had it maxed w/ utorrent. A 512 connection is only half a megabit...and a megabit is only slightly more than 100Kb/s, and you were getting 50...and so it was capped.
You might eek more speed by making sure your upload is set to 80% of max (in your case, setting it to 12Kb would be the optimal setting), and possibly by running the SP2 patch that enables you more connections...I can't ever remember what it's called because I personally don't use SP2, but it's something "lord" or something, I'm sure someone will add it or you can search for it.
Other than that, that's about as fast as it's going to get. Sorry bud, but keep tryin!

TomMelee, the patch you mean is called lvllord's EventID 4226 Patcher, and it's found here : http://www.lvllord.de/ Be aware that some anti virus softwares like Norton or Mcafee will complain about this software and tell you it might be a virus.
This is a false positive, it is being ID'd as dangerous because it changes some very base windows settings, so don't worry if your AVS complains, just tell it the program is ok.
