I'm having problems with Nero when I tried to burn. it says this

Before you consider buying a new drive, try this, uninstall Nero, run the clean tool http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/Nero7_CleanTool.html and then install this stable version of Nero, DO NOT choose 7.2.0.3/b
I have seen a few logs, same problem and all using 7.2.3.2b, I could be wrong but it's worth a try.

At some point you may want consider it - since this drive hasn't had any updates for 2½ yrs newer media will give it problems.
That may be the problem here.
So 1st let's update the firmware and try again.
Remember not to multi task and shut down any unneccesary processes.
You getting a 'device not available' error so I would also try another 2.0 usb port. Make sure eerything is pluuged in securely (power, port, usb cable)

any recomendation on dvd burners, I think it is time to get a new one .... could you help me with the firmware? I just have to click on the 1S33 and that it?

Hi octapalos
Click on the 1S33 and download it to the pc you are going to update the burner on. You may want to use your Dell lappy since the drive worked in it.
Make sure the drive is connected and the power is on. Have no other programs running or blanks disc in the drive. Usually you just open the .exe file that was downloaded - may have to pick the drive - click ok and your drive will be 'flashed' to the new version.
It should than say you need to reboot/restart. Reboot and the firmware should be updated.
Try that and let's see how it goes.
As for recommends on a new one I would say BenQ, LiteOn or Plextor (in order of price). Depending on where you are we may be able to recommend a good site online to buy one cheaper.

I live in chicago,I usually buy all my computer supplies from tigerdirect.com ... is this a good place ?.....
I tried to unistall the Nero but I couldn't, a window pop up saying "fatal installation error" then I tried the clean tool but the computer froze .... so I canceled the process and restarted the computer, now the Nero is gone ... should I try to reinstall Nero without running the cleantool??

ok - let's look in add or remove programs - do you see anything Nero or Nero related here? If you do uninstall it. Then try and run the clean tool again.
I would also run a registry cleaner to clean things up - here's a free one:
http://www.ccleaner.com/
Now try and install Nero again.
Tigerdirect is good in my experince- I've used them before. Another good one is http://newegg.com

Hi octapalos
The new drive your using can use a firmware up date too - the latest is 1.06. Here's a link:

Doubt this will help with the 'device not available' but best to keep the firmware up to date.
Try the early version like gwen suggested.
If that doesn't do it - we can try another burning software.

Nop !!! I dont know whats going on ..... what should I do ? ... pleeeasssee heeelpp!! ... the DVD burner work perfect in my Dell laptop using Nero, but I dont what is the deal with this HP pavilion.
I also tried CloneDVD2 ... and the same thing, it says that the media is bad ...... any suggestion?

Looks like Nero has some conflict w/ this pc - do you have another usb port you can try?
Clone's error may be a little different - bad media - from Nero's device not available.
Are you still using the Sony's? Drive only recognized them as +R.
Did you run ccleaner also?
You also have 78% of your memory in use - something running may be playing into the problem. No multi tasking and shut down any unnecessary processes.
Another option to burn w/ would be DVD Decrypter.

I'm thinking you're using shrink? Or do you have an iso file saved to your hard drive? If so download & install DVD Decrypter (only burns iso's).

You an look in task manager and see what's running under the processes tab. But leave anything alone that you do not know what it is esp. anything with the user name system. You can disconnect from the internet and shut down any antivirus, firewall or spyware. Things like aol,msn, iTunes etc should be shut down too.
Try that and let's see how that goes. We'll try and get you sorted soon!

Octa...- if it is an external drive (burner) you might try unpugging the power source and re-plugging it - i have an HP external burner it is recognized most of the time but when it isn't i have to unplug it replug then restart the program

Glad to hear you are finally burning again!!
This pc has some conflict w/ Nero since Decrypter worked. Now it's just finding out what that is.
The difference between the 2 is decrypter is less 'problematic' of the 2 but Nero does a whole lot more when is comes to media.

editted to add: next time you try Nero before you start it open task manager>process tab and do a screen shoot of the processes running. This may help us solve this. Also see if there is one running named
RMADEC.EXE.

Nothing really that I can see that should conflict w/ Nero that running.
One thing to stop would be iTunes/iPod - it also has it's own burning piece that might be conflicting with this pc.
Another would be usbdetector.exe. If you're plugging directly into a usb port this program may not be necessary.
Close internet explorer explorer when burning also (if your not already).
ASPI is okay.
Is decrypter still burning okay for you?
