this thing is bugging for a while now so i decided i might as well go ask here, maybe someone smarter knows something. i'm running the new powerdvd 7 delux, before i wa running the 6, and my sound card is creative's audigy 4, before it was a sound blaster live!

anyway my setup is 5.1 surround system and in the preferences in powerdvd i set the speaker enviroment to 6-channel and the output mode to "dolby pro logic iix". but whenever i play a dvd the output mode changes back to "CLMEI2". why is that? i play dvd's encoded with DTS, which my soundcard has built in decoders for, and still the output mode changes to "CLMEI2". it's quite annoying, still i get surround sound but why can't i use the "dolby pro logic iix" output mode?

anyone have similar experiences?

Not quite sure you actually want what your selecting here.

Dolby pro logic II is a clever encoding method of making a stereo source have a "surround sound" effect. If you have a DVD with DTS or Dolby surround 5.1 on it then why Demux it down to dolby pro logic II becuase you will only get a "Clever" stereo surround effect and not "True" digital surround if you do that. I'm not familiar with the options in Power DVD 7 delux. I don't recognise what "CLMEI2" is but maybe that is the "true" digital setting in power DVD and is actually the setting you want?? Check the help menu in power DVD or try the website Digital faq.

CLMEI 2 is probably not what you want. CLMEI 2 is CyberLink's demuxing technology. From the CyberLink website:

CyberLink Multi-channel Environment Impression 2 (CLMEI-2?)
CyberLink's second-generation audio-expansion technology offers two forms of processing: 2-channel to 4, 6, 7 or 8-channel audio expansion, and 6-channel to 4, 7 or 8 -channel audio expansion.
