For all the people that waited and almost bricked there xbox drives trying to flash it lol here it is the first real XBOX 360 MODCHIP!!
Team Underdog Website Launched: NME-360 DVD FW Patch Mod
The NME-360 enables your XBox360 to play backups of your highly valuable original games. NME-360 is a universal solution for ALL currently available XBox360 Consoles on the market. Forget crazy dual mods with 30+ wires or even bricking your DVD drive by flashing corrupt/wrong firmware files. Your original firmware stays untouched and intact at any time when using the NME-360. There is no need for any firmware-reading or flashing.
Simply install the NME-360 with the special easy to fit pre-wired cables (4 cables for Samsung, 11 wires for Hitachi/LG) and you are done...
NME-360 - the clever solution:
The NME-360 autodetects the inserted media. If the inserted media is a backup NME-360 injects the necessary information to the DVD drive enabling it to boot smoothly ahead! If the media is an original game, or anything else, which doesnt require any further action of the NME-360 then it simply falls asleep so there is no need for an external switch whatsoever. This way it can not be detected online when you play an original onlinegame.
We are now in the stage of finalizing the first batch of NME-360 Chips which is going to be shipped to the distributors in the first week of july.

this is silly.
You get the modchip, you install it... All of a sudden a new firmware is released that allows you to say... add a different harddrive, or allow more media recognition on hitahci. but you can't upgrade your firmware, cause its on the modchip....

1st you can reflash a chip
2nd almost every single in the world is going to require an update sooner or later its resflashing wether it be a 360 chip or ps2 chip no matter how old or new your chip is even the firmware itself is getting updated every other week

how do you plan on reflashing the chip? are you just posting news from other websites, cause if you are, i suggest you read up about it.
and don't suggest that i dont know what im talkin about, i read the news, and ive talked with people who have created this modchip.
So don't get up on your high horse and tell me i dont know what im talkin about, just because you can read a headline on xboxscene.
PS: "straight from the source" would be the underdog website, not the xboxscene website, they're just posting news, they're not a source.

If the chip does ever go into mass production you have to remember its only a DVD-ROM chip doesnt not take off region locks ,or have any extra features like uploading to the HDD its still to early in the xbox 360 era for the features like that yet
This is pretty much good for people who just want to play there back ups with out disrupting there originals
If you really want a feature packed chip youll have to wait a while for a motherboard chip untill then ur stuck with the firmware hacks in which ever way you decide to apply them

the chip will not ever have these features, ever. all it is, is an on the fly flasher. it switches between orig.bin and xtreme.bin, which i guess is usefull when you want to go on live, but right now you can go on live with no issues, so whats the point? If in the future you want to go on live and they do start banning, and you acctually own originals (SHAME ON YOU!) then i guess you can give this a shot, but it will never be able to add a HD or anything else semi interesting.
