I have an old usb ps2 modchip that runs all PSX backups like a charm. Not so with my copy of Resident Evil 2 (Dual Shock edition thingy) It boots, and the regular playstation logo is shown, but it doesnt go farther than that. Any ideas? I've burned the thing under 1x and such. Pretty darn confusing. I've lost count on the # of cd's ive killed for this thing.

ok never heard of it... but it's probably not the chip's problem, cos if the chip is dead you shoudln't be able to get to the playstation logo in the first place.

Maybe it's the laser?

yeah, I know the mod is shit. It has trouble booting ps2 cd backups (via gameshark) and it cant seem to boot ps2 DVD games at all. But it does just fine with PSX games. Laser? Well, my other psx games work fine...
