Hi,
Just aquired a .RAR file of K1 World GP...
When I extracted the file I realized the guy has given me the contents of the game and not an .ISO...
So the problem is I have to do a rebuild but I have no idea about the order to put the files in CD/DVD Gen...
Should I rebuild in the order it extracted or should I tick Date Modified in the toolbar or something???
I've viewed the file in WinRAR and that has the files listed Aplhabetically so that's no help.
If anyone else has had this before or has any help it would be great, the solution is probably so easy I'll be kicking myself but if I don't get the file order correct in the rebuild I'll never know if the guy has extracted the files properly in the first place, Please help!
Cheers,
Gareth.
you sure the file you extracted is not an image file and not rar file? WinRAR by default opens image files, so try this, use DVD Decrypter and see if you can open this ".RAR" file, if you can then it means it's an image file and not a rar file. You can find a link to tutorial for DVD Decrypter in my signature.
Hi,
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly, I've always found what I need in the guides so this is my first thread but this ones got me stumped...
The .RAR file wouldn't open and I got an error message so I guess it is a .RAR (The .rar file is 2.9GB and when extracted the game contents are 3.5GB).
I made a backup on the hard drive of the .rar file and changed the extension to .iso and then opened it in Isobuster and it said "No file systems or files found" so that's probably because it is a .RAR file, so that didn't work...
Here are the files in order that they extracted...
MCARD (folder)
MENU (folder)
MODULES (folder)
REVCL (folder)
REVIF (folder)
REVPR (folder)
SOUND (folder)
DATA.PSS
DATA.YFS
ENTER (folder)
SLUS_206.82
SYSTEM (CNF)
GAME (folder)
GPVIC (folder)
INTRO (folder)
Do you reckon I should rebuild in this order, windows has sorted them in the folder by 'Name' in the toolbar...
If I do rebuild in the correct order and it doesn't work then it means the guy has extracted the files straight off the disc and not out of an image file because I've tried that before when a damaged disc wouldn't give me an .iso - I doesn't work!
I'm not convinced that the file you have is a .rar file... are you saying that it's a .rar file because you can see the file extension, or because it opens in WinRAR?
Open WinRAR, go to options, settings, then the right most tab I think, there's a list of files that WinRAR is associated with, is ISO checked?
Just opened WinRAR..
The ISO association wasn't checked so now it is...
The extension is .RAR (wgp k-1.rar) and therefore it shows up as a WinRAR file icon...
When I go into WinRAR and click the file, then click 'View' it shows no ISO like it normally does with games, just the list of files shown in my post...
I'll try a rebuild and let you know what happens, but like I said if the file order is incorrect in CD/DVD Gen then I'll never know if the order is wrong in my rebuild or if the guy has gone into Apache3 or Isobuster and extracted the files straight from the DVD, then compressed them (which means the rebuild will fail) instead of making an ISO, then extract the files and compress them (which would work if the game allows rebuilds).
I can see what you mean about not being sure it's a .RAR file, I thought you were on the money when you said it was an image file but Decrypter wouldn't have anything to do with it. Hope I can figure it out, the K1 series is supposed to be pretty good and its a waste of 3GB if the dude has stuffed up when making the file!
Hey, thanks for trying to help and apologies for the typos..
Turns out that is the correct file list for K1 World GP...
Just had to put all the files in that order into CD Gen, then build ISO as normal, the rebuild works!!!
