If you are talking about modding your 360 without opening it, it isnt possible. The connectivity kit hooks up your hard drive or DVD Drive to your comp without the 360 needing to be present. You still have to open the box to get the DVD drive out, but not the HDD.

I am seriously thinking about doing this mod. I will have to buy a burner that can burn DVD DL discs and the DVD DL discs themselves in order to do anything but I think it will be worth it in th long run. I have looked around but can anyone give me a link to a guide to how to do this? [if there in fact is one]

EDIT: BTW I have a Hitachi Drive

Sure why not? You have utimate flexibility in housing PC internals. I've seen someone use a shoe box as a PC case and someone else attach all the PC internals to a wall. They wear just hanging there. It was kind of like modern art. Both PCs were functional.

I don't have any links, but you might be able to Google a guide on exactly what your are trying to do. The most important thing is getting a motherboard that fits into the case you are trying to use. I've never put a PC in a 360 case, but I've built several PCs from the ground up. It's a lot of trial and error.

my dell optiplex is almost the same size as the 360 anyway, so hopefully (fingers crossed)with a bit of trial and error it shouldnt be to hard, if i does work and anyone else is interested i might post some pictures (on a different thread or something)

Thanks Memnock. One last question. How hard how you rank this mod? Would it be something a total noob at modding should attempt or not?

It's about an 8.5 out of 10 for difficulty IMO the 1st time you do the Samsung. The Hitachi is a little easier, but it can be more confusing. Plus you have to get Hitachis into mode B. If you are comfortable with opening up a PC and changing parts out yourself I'd say go for it. If not get someone to do it for you.

Damn, Looks like I'll need to get some help. If you back up games it is exaclty the same and you still get all the achievements, right? and I know I already asked this but what happends if MS puts out an update to finds the hack, is it reversable?

I have also been told the same thing today some guy i have meet recons he can hack the 360 without even opening the box up by just pressing a few buttons on the menu screen and getting into some service menu........I said no chance, but he swears down that he can, going to take my 360 to him next week.

It's already been posted in this thread. You CANNOT mod the 360 right now without opening it up. For what they do I don't think those connectivity kits are worth $50 either. Like I said, I've done a Samsung and Hitachi without a connectivity kit.

Yes as long as you properly back up your original firmware it's reversable. Backups act just like retail games in everyway with the xtreme firmware, achievements, Live and all. MS spent so much time trying the make the core of the 360 secure, but they forget to sign the firmware of DVD drive. I'd like to see how they are going to detect it now. They've had about 5 months now and still nothing.
