Problem with TMPGEnc DVD Author

I've been using TMPGEnc DVD Author program to turn episode dvd into .mpg files to reauthor. (so I can discard the episodes I don't want) In the some of the Southpark episodes I get an error - "Could not initialize decoder." disc 1, I got 1 episode to do that. Disk 2, 2 episodes did it. I got around it by using dvdtoolbox to split the episode into 1 .vob file, then using voberator to demux it into a .m2v and .ac3 then using TMPGEnc DVD Author to author it. ( more work that way) Does anybody else have this problem? Wondering if it's a decoder I need or what?

I have the same problem with several files recorder with my Hauppauge PVR-350 card.
I have a episode of the North&South series in three parts. They are all recorder with the same settings, but the second part won't load into TMPGEnc DVD Author. I get the same error message you reported.

One interesting thing to know that might give a clue:
When i import these three files into TMPGEnc for editing, they import all three, but with the first and third one, a GOP list will be generated, but not with the second one.

Anyone a idea ?

Hi,

I'm also trying to make a dvd out of certain episodes from multiple discs. Basically I don't know what the hell I'm doing. So far, I've only been doing single movies & haven't attempted any kind of reauthoring yet. It seems like you would be the guys to help me out.

Could you kind of walk me through what programs I need & what I need to do? I'd like to create new menus and keep the quality (ie. 6 channel sound) of the episodes.

Then load them in TMPGEnc DVD Author and either use menus or not to run through!

this will make all files to put in a VIDEO_TS folder to burn with nero!

OH! forgot you will need to compress if bigger than 4.36 gig with dvd2one? first before you burn to dvdr
