Hi whoever is reading this. I went on line last night and looked to see how to burn ps2 games and took the advice and tried Alcohol 120%. It went throught the process fine and when I gave it to my grandson to try in his playstation it wouldn't play.
I remember coming on about 6 to 8 months ago with the same question and received advice which worked, but i know it wasn't alcohol i used. If by any chance my helper still comes onto the forum and might remember me could you refresh me on what you advised me to use. I can't remember the name of who it was that helped me except that the person had a great logo for a sig. LOL. Probably sound confusing, nowhere near as confusing as I get when trying to do this sort of stuff for my grandchildren. I did write down how to do it but lost instructions when my pc carcked it.
Would appreciate any help. Regards Silvya

Hmm... I hope you are not trying to play PS2 games on a PS1
There's a link to a tutorial in my signature, have a look there. For PS2 games I'd recommend DVD Decrypter, as it's much better to use.
Also I assume the PS2 has a modchip/swap magic if it worked before? And what game is it?

What DVD media did you use? And how fast did you burn the game? Also could be a problem with the modchip being not compatible... do you know which one you have?

Hi. Not sure what you mean by dvd media. Don't know about a modchip.
It burnt pretty quick.
I took the game to my pc guy tonight after work and he burnt it for me. Have to wait and try it tommorrow in my grandson's playstation. I am very confident that it will be fine as he burns lots of games. He did it with Nero copy disc and it took a good 45 minutes. Whereas I used make data cd. Regards.

Your PS2 is modded right? Or are you using Swap Magic?

if you're not using a mod chip or Swapmagic Discs to boot the "BACKUP" the "BACKUP" will not boot. No matter how you slice it...

Hi all
I'm still no better off. As I said. The playstation had a chip put in so that it could play burnt games. My daughter had it done for him over a year ago. He is able to play all burnt games as he borrows some of his friends.Maybe that game wouldn't allow to be burned.
Will keep in touch. Maybe I'll try another game.
The case normally is that I have to use a dvd disc to burn onto, is that right?
Regards

Hey everyone
I'm new to Afterdawn and I hope I'm in the right place to get some answers from the right people, I'm having some problems burning PS2 games that I copy from the disk to a Image onto my PC, I'm having problems when I put the back up dvd into my PS2, the game starts up like it should but the screen is doing like a flip from the bottom to the top if that makes any sense, almost like a shutter. Now I've tried a hand full of programs DVD Decrypter, 5star Game Copy, Alcohol 120% and Nero, and I've tried at all different speeds, now could someone please tell me if its the format of the PS2 game b/c I have a cope of soul calibur 3 and its in NTSC format, soo is there a difference between the two NTSC or PAL? or is it just the file itself or am I a complete airhead and just missing some of the pictures....
NEED HELP PLEASE

You'll need to use a NTSC to PAL Fix for the ISO

NTSC is 60hz and PAL is 50hz. If you want to play a NTSC game on a PAL ps2 and tv then you buy a SCART cable. If you want to play PAL games on a NTSC PS2 and TV then you can use the PAL2NTSC w/y fix program listed in the stickies.
As for the first guys question. Go buy some good quality DVD-r's
To burn the ps2 game, first you need the .iso file. You get this by using DVD Decrypter and selecting ISO/MODE/READ. After you have the iso file you select ISO/MODE/WRITE and burn at half the media's rated speed. i.e. you have 16x DVD-r's burn at 8x.. 8x burn at 4x.

How do you tell if your PS2 is a PAL or a NTSC?

Hi
I've jsut recently got a copy of Swap Magic 3.6 w/ slide card but whenever I burn a PS2 game and try loading it with Swap magic i get the message 'Not a valid PS2 game'. I've tried burning the game w/ several different methods including DVD Decrypter, CDR-win, Nero and a couple other. I've tried burning at the minimum speed and many other things and yet i still can't get it to work properly. Can someone please help me?? I'm using SONY brand blank DVDs as well.
any help would be appriciated.
Thanks in advance.

I've never used the slide card method but sounds like you make be using the slide card wrong.. If you don't use the slide card a specific way the PS2 will know that the tray is open when you swap discs.. So the backups won't boot...
Before you can use the slide card you must first remove the front of the console tray. This is VERY easy to do and full reversible. You can download and print a detailed instruction sheet HERE
