I have DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink and they work fine but I was wondering what program I could use to actually back up my dvds. I have used 1click dvd copy in the past and it worked well in the past...unfortunately my daughters wiped out my hardrive over the weekend so now I'm trying to choose which back up software I'm going to choose. I back up both movies and television show dvds...(like the Simpsons). Freeware would be preferable but all help is welcome.
Ripit4me to your hard drive/shrink to compress/IMGBurn to burn can't not be beaten in terms of price(they are all free) and quality. this is speaking about transcoder. Rebuilder with a encoder is the best thing in term of quality but it takes wayyyyy toooo much time for me to deal with it.
Those are nice alternatives too. It all depend on what's more important to you. For me, Quality is paramount so I use DVD-Rebuilder. It takes 3-4 hours to encode with my current computer (laptop), but it's worth it.
If you are not so picky about Quality, use a transcoder. To me Shrink is the best one. If you use the "Deep Analysis" features, you get better Quality than other comercial Transcoders like CloneDVD, 1Click DVD Copy, etc and is free.
One last thing...if you only do main movie backups, DVD Rebuilder has a free version (v0.96 I think) which does just that.
AnyDVD is the MAIN tool I use.
I may couple that with DVD Shrink for movies needing little or no compression,
If the feature requires compression over 10% I use DVD-RB
with the HC encoder (Much better job with encoding with
higher amounts of compression).
And no visible loss of quality.
And lastly I Use Clone dvd mobile to covert to smaller formats,
To fit on the psp or ipod.
Or sometimes just to downsample files for presentations and such.
AnyDVD is what I use for decryption,
There is not a faster easier method for decryption itself,
The other tools depend on each feature itself.
But generally these are the main programs I use.
I still prefer 1click dvd copy over the others. Simple to use. The others are probably just as good or better, but I guess I'm a bit old school in thinking if it aint broke don't fix it.
