I'm having a odd problem with almost all my cdr games recently.
All the games seem to boot but before they reach title screen they seem to mess up. They just spin up way to fast and dont load.
I was wondering if these are swap magic issues, data issues or bad releases.
Sword of Etheria PAL DVD rip
Dual Savior DVD rip
Breath of Fire V DVD rip
Sorry if this has been answered. This forum is so vast its sometimes hard to find what you're looking for.
None of those games sound like they are small enoufh to fit on a cd-r. Also, if those games are dvds as it seems, you need to convert them to cd if they are of proper size. The most logical answer would be to burn them to dvd since they are dvds lmfao, preferably Taiyo Yuden or Verbaim 8X DVD-rs.
They will be small enought to fit on CD-R, hence the name "DVDRip". ie: Ripped version of the game from DVD to CD.
The problem most likely lies in the fact that the majority of groups that do DVDRips (which are few & far between these days due to the cheapness of DVD Writers & media & the fact most people now own a DVD Writer) is that the rips are always done with modchip users in mind, who can direct boot a game regardless of size.
Since you're using Swap Magic, you are limited to the SIZE of a game in your ability to load it, and the vast majority of DVDRips are approx 79mins in length/size, whereas the limit that Swap Magic CD can load is 74mins in length/size, and therefore unable to load unless more ripping is done, or a Swap Magic Patch is applied - and no-one does SM Patches these days, except for DVDs as & when they're required.
Etheria is a new game, so you won't find a patch for that at all, but you might for BoF5. Dunno about Dual Saviour, never heard of it.
http://www.alucard.cc would be a good place to start to look for a BoF5 SM Patch/Fix
But if you want to continue playing the newest & best games, then I suggest getting a DVD Writer, as like I said, DVDRips are a thing of the past.
Yes even if they are small enough for cdr they will need to be patched for cd, see hursty's guide> http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/197953 But I'd just stick em on dvd, much easier for your ps2 to read.
They freeze cos they're bigger than SM's 74min TOC. Some games load, but freeze as soon as the game tries to access data after the 74min mark, others don't boot at all if theyre over 74mins
Its the same with the DVD of SM. It has a TOC limit of 4.35Gb
Agree with ace1uk, Well if you already have the dvd rips you should be able to use dvdscan 3.7 by sonix to restore the media checks back to dvd and burn em.
how would I re add a dummy file in them to make them load faster and load easier. No point in burning a 700mb iso on a 4gb dvd and wearing the hell out of my laser trying to go to the inner circle.
Well I dont know where exactly the dummy data ends up on your disc or whether it will help loading times, the only reason I use them is so cddvd gen will accept the data for a dvd-rom master disc. but anyway if you go in here http://ps2burns.host.sk/tools.html and scroll down till you see a download called "dummy file" thats what you need. Just pick where you want the file to go and use the arrows to adjust the size you want in MB's, Takes about 30 sec's to create 700MB's.
