ChecklisT - WHen Your PS2 DVD Backup Disc Freezes Mid-game!
1. clean your ps2 lens
2. verify that other dvd games still play properly,
a. if yes, verify that the disc is not Dirty, then play it again
(dvd drive might just have slipped during recent freeze)
b. if it freezes again, try burning another backup the game.
c. if it freezes again then maybe the Original DVD/Image also has a
problem.
3. Try using your backup and original Disc on some other working ps2 to verify that your discs are in good shape.
a. if doesnt work with some other good ps2 then your original or
backups are broken.
b. if it these discs works on some other ps2 then there is major problem with your ps2 lens or console. time to seek technical help.

also verify the ps2 lens by playing a cd based game (tek tag, gradius etc.) if the games works. laser lens voltage needs calibration.

note: my Guide is applicable to all games and mostly for first time troubleshooters.
