Hi I have a laptop connected wirelessly to the internet. Is there anyway to connect to live via the laptop or do I have to run a cable from the host computer

yeah, you can connect through the laptop. Just use the ethernet cable that came with the 360, plug one end into your laptop's network jack and the other into the back of the 360. I'm presuming you're using windows so you need to enable your laptop to let the 360 use your connection. To do this go to the control panel then click on network connections and right click the connection you use to connect to the internet (it will be the wireless one) and select properties. Click on the advanced tab and then tick 'allow other network users to connect through this computer's internet connection' and that should be it done. It's how i connect to live and is a hell of a lot better then spending waaaayyy too much on the wireless network adapter.
