hey,
i need help because my ps2 says disc read error on ps1 cds but not on dvds so i was wonderin if i could back up my own psx game onto a ps2 dvd.

Typical laser problem - do a search and you'll see how to fix that (clean the laser lens/adjusting it)

I know there's been attempts to copy CD to DVD for PS1 games, don't think it's doable though

hey i know its a laser problem but when i fix it dvd games will not work. Its one or the other and i cant do that, because i would rather have dvd games

that's strange, because adjusting the laser's meant to let you play both... I assume you've followed something like this: http://arstechnica.com/articles/paedia/hardware/ps2.ars/1 ?

If it's really giving you problems then it's probably time for a new laser
