Just got a PSP (2.6) I have been on the net with it seems very hit and miss when scanning for a connection. I can be stood in the same place and get 30% and then nothing at other times. This is to neighbours connections. I am wondering how reliable it is and how much signal strength is required to run it properly? How does it compare to a laptop with wi-fi.

Thanks

Well if you were smart you would go closer to the router, giving you better strength. I dunno i had like 65% and it was usable to surf and talk on msn.

I bought it 2 days ago and thought lets scan for a connection and there is a unsecure one but my psp doesnt always pick it up. I tried to get closer to the router but I got a funny look when I was leaning over the fence.
How far away can you be from a router? Does this depend on the type of router or the power of the psp wi-fi?

Thanks for your relpies by the way.

Its the router. So are good for farther away then others. Just for fun one time I was riding my bus through the city and I was just sitting there scanning and on a 20 min bus ride I picked up 40 unsecure internet connections lol.

i love using my psp wifiscanner. I makes a readme of the networks, and they are either unsecured or have a default password. LOL

The PSP wifi scanner is built into the PSP, its under Network Settings

and well it scanns for nearby wifi netwrks so you can browse the internet on the PSP
