A-hem! I may be new at the afterdawn forums, but that is because I was looking for a forum that I wanted to join that I could use for multiple things. So I thought I might start off with my personal attemts at cracking the 2.70 firmware. I know it sounds so cliche' because everyone's trying also, but here is my progress update.

-Param.sfo editing for homebrew (Using the param.sfo's from Loco Roco, Kazuo, Updates, etc to mask homebrew)-Status-Not Working

-Masking updates (Editing so a 1.50 update appears as 2.71, and even removing the data.psr for both a 2.71 update and 1.50 update so the memory stick wouldn't check it, and then switching so the masked 1.50 eboot would run as a 2.71)-Status-Not Working

-Html Coding- Making a webpage that I could open in the internet browser that had a link to the 1.5 update eboot-Status-Not Working

-Swaploit-Using the Loco Roco and Kazuo demos to launch and then swapping after the memory stick had checked them. Problem was, because it was a demo, the entire thing was already saved and running by the time I switched memory sticks. Tried it with an update, but it checked to many times that I didn't have enough time to swap.-Status-Not Working

-Plain Testing-Using every homebrew from PspBrew, and seeing if Sony got lazy and left any holes. They didn't.-Status-Not Working

Lol! Nothing works...
Not that I want to put you down or discourage you but I just find it funny...what I recommend you do (every other hacker for that matter) should team up with someone else to do these things...don't attempt things alone as they are much harder and make bigger headaches...

If I insult you...don't get offended...my insults are "friendly insults"...I know this sounds stupid (ridiculous) but I am fet up of writing, "no offense" in my posts...

Yeah. Yesterday I had to help a kid put music on his PSP. He didn't understand why Playlist files couldn't be played on his PSP. He also couldn't find where his P2P program was putting them. I had to do this all over the phone. I wish Sony was that dumb. I don't really want to get into working with any C+++ programming because I have no idea what exactly it is. Anyway that's a good idea, teaming up. You wanna help? I sure could use someone willing. If not it's okay.

Dude, I've already tried hacking games and ISOs... you can take a look at this long read if you like... I was a little off, but had a good idea. whackawookie from ps2nfo said there's too much to it to even mess w/ tho he's done it b4. Now, this wasn't necessarily cracking firmware, but game cracking, so read on if you like. I only suggest this b/c of your references to manipulation of the Param.sfo and PSAR and all that.

I never said this was cracking firmware, I said it was an attempt. I just wanted to start a thread so people could share their ideas in one big pool and hopefully get somewhere. And after many tries I know that changing the Param.sfo's does nothing. Also removing the Data.psar doesn't prevent the memory stick from checking twice. Also, I tried moving everything from the eLoader to a Death, Jr. file, but I couldn't edit the Param.sfo without corrupting it, so when I left it, the data didn't matter, just the param. It's weird, almost as if the actual data files are just dummies to confuse us.

Yeah I doubted it from the start, because even on a PC, there's no way to open a PBP file in a browser, unless you're downloading it, and on my psp it just said the content couldn't be displayed. an rss feed with the album art as overflow.tif might be possible... or we could just act innocent and tell Sony that we're photographers that are going out of business because we cannot show our photos to others because they're all in .tif format. Then maybe sony would let .tif back in in their next exploit. HAHA jk they'd never do that.
