Have I missed the boat on ripping progs?

I've been encoding and burning for about a year, but never tried ripping before. Searching these forums I discovered a lot of dead ends in the guides section re; the new laws as of January 1.

I managed to download DVD Shrink and RipIt4Me, but have no idea how to use them. Could someone please help me out with a guide or two? I'm trying to make a backup copy of a ps2 game.

I hope I havent overstepped any boundries by asking. If I have please delete my post. Any help would be much appreciated - thanks.

I might be wrong but ripit4me only helps to break the encryption of movies that DVDD cant handle.
