And it will be here in about 2 years and I know this because the storyline is already done...all they have to work on is the graphics/controls/AI etc...so expect it in 2 years!!!!

It appears to be speculation. I remember when Starcraft Ghost was cancelled last year, so reading this post was a surprise and I had to find the article since the original poster didn't link it.
The only mention of Starcraft Ghost in the article was to say that it was in development limbo. I don't know how you read that it is coming to the Wii from that. It does say that Blizzard is interested in developing for the Wii but no particular titles are mentioned. I just hope it's better than their last console effort, Warcraft II. That was just not up to the standards of the PC version. That's one of the things I am really looking forward to on the Wii though, by using the Wiimote as a pointer it should make RTS games much easier to control on a console.

If Blizzard wants to port comp games to consolesthey can make ppl buy a mouse and keyboard for their console (360/ps3/wii)...even the wii should be allowed to use a mouse...but the "wiimote" should work as well...
I'm not saying Blizzard should stop comp games...thats not what I am saying at all...but they should make ports to all consoles and enable mouse and keyboard functions...then there is no reason not to port their games to consoles....actually it would even be an advantage to port it to consoles (360/PS3) cuz they wouldnt have to hold back their graphics...but back on topic, Starcraft Ghost on Wii will own...but just cuz their making a console version, why shouldn't they make a PC version?
I'm buying the Wii/PC version(s), thats all I know...(If a PC version comes out that is..)

PC-Better Graphics+Constant Updates+Free Online Play

Wii-Revolutionary control+Free Online Play
The above are just my assumptions...
P.S.
They should make Starcraft Ghost not just on 360/PS3/Wii but also on Xbox and PS2 (not Gamecube) because they are all good for it and the more [people] the merrier...but on Gamecube it won't support online play...or at least a highly populated one...

Actually, their last console effort was StarCraft on the N64.. but I agree with you, I hope their next effort is better, cause that game just sucked. Though probably just due to poor controls.
Isn't Ghost supposed to be a single player Splinter-Cell-esque type of game? I didn't think they had multiplayer planned?

The real question is why does Blizzard take so long to make their games!
Why the f*** don't they hire more people? If they did that, they could have games completed (their Graphics/AI/Controls etc. part) soooo much faster!!! That way they would make their money faster, and we get out games faster and we get more games!!!!!!!
P.S.
The only part they cannot speed up is the storyline...but on the Graphics/AI/Controls etc. there is no excuse on not hiring more people!!! They have the money!!
P.S. #2
I was lying to myself when I said I didn't care how long Blizzard takes making their games, but what I previously said is the best I (or we) could hope for...
P.S. #3

____________________________________________________________________
Before the multiplayer was planned, Blizzard announced that it would not have any mode of multiplayer whatsoever. But then, Blizzard realized that, online gameplay is what keeps the comp version of Starcraft alive even today so, they then decided that it was a must to have online play. I just hope it's free...on the Wii version. But if my common sense proves me right, it will be free on the Wii/PS3 version but not on the Xbox 360 version...but I'm not too sure because WoW is not free and it's on the comp so...can someone elaborate on this, please?

If you ask me i think Blizzard should stick to PC games...
All their PC games are brillaint...World of Warcraft...Warcraft III...StarCraft...these were and still are great games, they wouldn't work on console.
Ghost is a different genre i suppose but if you ask me Blizzard don't have much experience in making console games so personally they should stick to PC in my opinion.

....And if you ask me, Blizzard should never release StarCraft Ghost, or even talk about it ever again.
I was at E3 '05, they had it playable on three major consoles, as well as a high end PC-Version. The thing that could be well noted in all three, was that this game, in play, was genuinely terrible. I don't have anything against SC in general, or anything Blizzard has made for that matter, they've been top notch. But after playing ghost, the framerate was terrible, the graphics were beyond subpar, and the controls were clunky. The thing that convinces me this is not fixable, is that even looking past these flaws, it became very clear that Blizzard was not showing actual gameplay in ANY of the videos. Because the framerate in actual gameplay was reminiscent of late release N64 titles, topping out around what felt like 18-25fps. It was bad, the areas were full of low quality textures, and every room felt the same. It honestly reminded me of playing Turok 2, starring Lara Croft. I hope they don't release this, because it would be a blemish to their name.

Ya, they should but that should stick to pc games but that doesnt mean they shouldn't make console versions [or even handheld] versions of their games...they should just hire more ppl to speed up the process.

That is exactly why they should hire more ppl to work on this "project" (Starcraft Ghost)...
True Blizzard Addicts might not like this but I am not an addict...I just love Blizzard and Halo and Splinter Cell and Starcraft for that matter and this is a combination! It will be a masterpiece...but, unfortunately, it will be out in ten thousand years!!!

I wish Blizzard could make books into video games!! I saw alot of books that I never read that look good!! Problem is...I don't read books unless I have a book report at school...unless its a comp book.

Blizzard (Now owned by Vivendi/Universal) has been making cutbacks on staffing, and their owners have been doing the same thing with all of it's subsidiaries. They aren't looking to hire more programmers unfortunately.
It'd be nice if they did, but it isn't happening. I wish it would.
Also, for those who think blizzard should stick to PC games, and not 'start releasing console' titles, I've got a newsflash. The series that are mentioned in this thread were far from Blizzard's first successes. True fans recall titles like Black Raven, and The Lost Vikings, originally console only titles. Console gaming is Blizzard's roots. Unfortunately, Blizzard isn't doing ghost on their own, if that were the case, I would have a lot more faith in it.

Really? Then you should go apply right away. Companies who are making their design teams from great titles such as Warcraft III and Diablo II angry enough to quit their jobs, and risk starting their own company, because they are that upset about the new business model and conduct; tend to have great positions for new employees.
Considering that Vivendi is so good at 'consolidating' companies they acquire so quickly, dropping many employees at a moment's notice; I would definitely suggest working on a project for them. And I'm sure they want to put together a long term team for this title that's already way over budget. They'd much rather hire MORE programmers to work on a title that had tons of gamers and industry leaders turning away in dissapointment. I mean, they can bascially lease the rights to third parties, making money just for LETTING other companies try working on it. It makes business sense that they would do it this way.
This is most unfortunate. Because, it'd be nice if they really did it right with this one. But hey, let's not forget Sony and Electronic Arts are hiring right now too. Sony just laid off *how many people* but a month or two ago; and EA did a layoff after losing their EA vs. Employees trial. But hey, they're still hiring. It looks good for business, and makes stockholders confident when they see a company that still holds interest in expanding.

That's fine, I was just saying that they were in fact hiring. I don't care what that means, other than the fact that they are hiring programmers to work on starcraft ghost for the next gen systems.
Thanks for the lecture, though.

And 2k is hiring for their next nfl game, which due to EA buying rights to NFL games, may never exist.
Just because they keep the door open, doesn't mean anyone can actually get in it, or that they are actually doing anything.
Just look at how many job listings have existed for Duke Nukem forever, which hasn't even been worked on for five years(They were doing Prey instead).
Saying a company is hiring for something, honestly doesn't mean they are really working on it. It should, (and I really do see where you're coming from) but unfortunately, it doesn't.

That much surprises me, personally. I think it could retain a good deal of business on the Windows Platform. But who knows, maybe with all this news of M$ integrating their Live platform, we just might see a PC version, seeing as the 360 code is so much similar, it seems entirely possible that they may be able to do a good clean port relatively easy...
M$ thank you for XNA, thank you so much.

I am still wondering what makes anyone think that Starcraft Ghost is coming to the Wii. The link I saw on gamespot on July 6th said it was in developement limbo. I have yet to see a single link or news release in this thread that says otherwise. From Blizzard's own FAQ, there is nothing mentioning anything about Wii development, just a mention that they are evaluating next gen consoles then saying Starcraft Ghost has been indefinately postponed:
Whatever happened to StarCraft: Ghost?
Blizzard has shifted its console-development efforts to focus on the next-generation consoles and is currently evaluating opportunities for utilizing the additional power and technology these platforms offer. As part of this process, we plan to determine the best course of action for StarCraft: Ghost, which for the time being has been indefinitely postponed.
Our ultimate goal is to ensure that we develop a game set in the StarCraft universe that meets the expectations of our players and lives up to the extremely high principles we set for all Blizzard games. Further specifics on plans for StarCraft: Ghost and Blizzard’s future console games will be revealed at a later date.

I definitely see where you're coming from on that. That is legitimate information you post. The reason for all of this Wii *speculation* is that it was recently uncovered in a few interviews with Blizzard employees, that the product was not being cancelled indefinitely, but more likely postponed for the next generation.
This might be a wise move, or a delay of inveitable failure. Only time, and dedicated developers will be able to make that decision. Hopefully dedication will prevail, and a finely tuned next gen title will grace us in the next nine months or so. (I say that, because otherwise it'll be another four years, knowing Blizzard).

hahah starcraft ghost... i can see it now "GHOST coming to the Wii 2009"..."ghost delayed till 2019.. oh im sorry its now delayed till 2023". that game has been delayed more then any other in my presence of the gaming industry. wasn't it supposed to be this third person shooter/first person shooter and its now moving torwards a third person RTS game? back to blizzard's old schoolness.

As far as gong back towards RTS, it's only going further from that, if anything.
As for length of delays, let's not forget the epic production process that begat Diablo II. More than 5 years of pushback. Ghost has been in the works a while, but it hasn't been public for nearly so long. Although, admittedly, I recently retracted my gamestop reservation from when it was to arrive in November '03.

wow i didn't know that about diablo II. "come on blizzard get with the progam". i just know ghost switched temas on the people making it so it might be turning around a bit. when i saw a gameplay trailer it made it look like a thirdperson shooter/rts. we'll just have to see the final outcome.
