Ok guys. I'm planning on building a Pentium D805 system. I've got a mad scientist plan and I want to try it out.

Problem is that I need to find a mobo to do the OC'ing on and I don't want to break the bank. I would prefer PCIe if at all possible.

I'm talkin' $90 and under... from newegg. Anyone got any ideas? I'm hoping to make my order by sometime next week. If this works out it will replace my Dell as my hardware firewall.

Any mobo for Intel Socket775 that supports FSB533 and FSB800 will work.
The D-805 runs 133MHz x 20 = 2667MHz.
The next 'OEM' speed (FSB800) is 200MHz x 20 = 4GHz. This is too high (unless you have aluminum case, heatpipe or liquid cooling and 700W powersupply).
The sweet-spot is ~FSB666 (166MHz x 20 = 3.33GHz). Very good performance for little $$!
Note: the latest Socket775 mobos START at FSB800 and also support FSB1066 - but they will not support FSB533 (or FSB666) or anything below FSB800.
The Asus P5W DH Deluxe is the latest mobo for Intel - but it will not do less than FSB800 and it is definitely not 'below $90 bucks' LoL :^)
You could get the Asus P5LD2-VM (MATX) with onboard video (Intel 945G). This would fix you up, quick and cheap - plus it has an empty PCI Express x16 slot for future upgrades...
A cheap no-name mobo is a bad investment! Consider an inexpensive Asus (or other name-brand model) but tough to beat Asus...

How about this? AsRock is the budget sector of ASUS. Looks like a stable board.

I'm not too sure but it's got good reviews and it looks like it's loaded with everything I'll ever need and some stuff I'll never need.

It says it supports Crossfire though but I don't see how with only one PCIe slot and no AGPro slot or anything... nevermind. The PCIe x4 slot can take a card but it looks like it's kind of a handicapped solution with no practical value.

Either way It looks like a feature rich board and just what I'm looking for.

And it has some insane RAID functions. 0/1/5/10

I think this will be just about right.

U'r Choice.. but.. overclocking for a server class computer??
i have no clue what the point of a server it for home use that is..
but why go with the 805 the 900 series has better performance by far.. and that not much more expensive.. and you will get the clock you want easier..

First off... I am poor.

Second off. It's going to be a hardware firewall and an experimental rig. It's not like I'm gonna be doing any file serving or anything.

Finally... I'm just taking it to 3.0GHz

Well... not dirt poor, but I have to watch my pennies and save up to get what I really want. I suppose everyone does.

My parents gave me a boost with my Sempron rig and my Grampa with my Dual Core.
Then I got a job welding part time at BDT. We are making a new cranberry picker called the "Ruby Slipper." I get like $10.15 an hour... gets me what I need.

But I have saved some in my bank and I have decided to get a new firewall rig so my mum could compute in luxury as she also uses the Dell for her word processing a lot.

Eventually, yes, I really do plan on getting an X1800XT but not quite yet.
