For awhile now the Receiver has been shutting intself off, showing poweroff before shutdown. It did this if speakers connected or not. Best Buy sent it to repair center, guy had same problem (said could not duplucate) so he reset the receiver and it didn't do it anymore so he sent it back. I havent' picked it up yet but he said that the speakers could be the problem but they are all working normally and are all rated 8ohms (he asked) He said I could try a soft reset if it happened again but didn't say how. (if it is simply unplugging and leaving unplugged it was unplugger for a month and still powered off with nothing connected). He did a hard reset, grounded something inside (wouldn't tell me how to do that either.) The only speaker not the same wattage is the sub wich is a powered 70 watt sub. (should the turnover be 60hz 100hz or 160hz) I'm looking for any help setting it up so the receiver stays on. Could different size speaker wire on the FL and FR make it happen? Thanks in advance for any comments.

Look in your manual for the speaker load change. The VSX is a stripped down Pioneer Elite model, and my assumption is that it, like the Elite models, can change the speaker impedance value. Here is how you do it on my VSX45TXi...

Set the unit in standby mode, open the door on the face of the reciever and depress and hold down the "speaker" button. While depressing the button, turn the unit on. Use the "speaker" button to cycle between 6 ohm and 8 ohm selections.

You can also check the load by depressing and holding the "speakers" button for 3 seconds.

Hope this helps.
