Before I start may I first just say a couple of things in defence of my post, so that I don't get a million replies of "you should've done a search" or "why didn't you check the stickies".
Firstly, I'm well aware you can search through a forum. However I'm also aware this feature brings up MANY irrelevant results and searching through them is quite annoying. I've also read through the stickies - although I'm even more worse for ware than when I started as I'm no longer sure what applies to me and what doesn't.
Secondly, I'm fairly tech minded myself so I'd appreciate not being patronised. Not that I'm suggesting anybody will mind - and I only mention it because it was on this very forum only a few days ago I posted a completely innocent message asking a perfectly good question in a PSP forum, only for some idiotic user throwing it back in my face and acting like an ignorant child.
Anyway! After all that, all I wanted to know is what method I need to use in order to make a backup of my Spider-Man 2 game (yes, I own the actual game).
Going by what I've already read, I've been trying the reading/writing ISO method all in DVD Decryptor - but whenever I try to write the file I get this error:
And a fairly similar one when I try the same thing in Nero. Hence, I believe I've been mislead somewhere!
Any help would be most greatly appreciated.

Look I dont know if its the answer to your prob or not but there is a firmware upgrade available for that drive, my freind had probs with his caused by that DL10 firmware that you are using. Try it, go to LG's website and look for downloads/firmware DL11.

I've actually managed to get it to burn to a different type of media (Mitsubishi instead of Verbatim).
I'm using Swap Magic - it's accepting the disc but not playing anything (ie the disc keeps spinning but the screen just goes black and nothing loads).
Any ideas?

Don't mean to be rude but just because you have to spend time searching through the forum doesn't mean you should ask the same of question that has been asked over and over again (I'm not saying you have here, but just saying that's not an excuse)
What's the disc ID of your Mitsubishi DVD?

A good point well made, I've always thought the rules a little harsh but that's for another time.
I'm afraid I couldn't tell you the ID! How do I check?

The game is Spider-Man 2, the ISO is 4.03GB and the speed was x4.
The Verbatim ID is: MCC 03RG20
The Mitsubishi ID is: MJC-003-00
Hope that helps.

Well that verbatim should be fine, My buddy has the exact same drive as you and allthough he's not into ps2 he had probs backing up movies, he could only use certain discs regardless of qaulity, untill he upgraded his firmware.

Lol, what kiwi1 is trying to say is (and he has been saying this for a while): upgrade the firmware :) have a look here: http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_all.php
@kiwi1
Haven't used Verbatim DVD-Rs (got quite a few CD-Rs lying around though), I mainly use Ricoh and sometimes TY if I feel like it

That particular code he gave are the ones we get here with the movie reel printing on the front, They work ok.
Did a bit of a search and I see even version DL11 is out dated now, its up to like DL13 or 14 or something.

Yes, just updated to DL13.
Managed to get the ISO burned onto a Verbatim at 2x, but unfortunately Swap Magic is only getting as far as a black screen (although it sounds like the PS2 is desperately trying to read it!).
Are some games just not possible to backup?

Try doing another game and burn at 4x, you may have to rebuild spider man 2, I think that game has dummy files that need to be overwriten (correct me if im wrong)
OK im wrong lol

yeah thats a dummy file, but in that link that dan gave it says the game works fine without rebuiding.
I see ty3 is also in that list, Thats the only game I cant get to play on my slimline no matter what I do, yet all my attempts play on my bro's fat ps2.
Have you got any working backups of other games?
