ok guano, i have read all of the links u sent me. i am just curious about the part when it says that instead of resetting the fm 2.6 to 1.5, u can now press R and L and the UP button. it will automatically bring my psp to 1.5 again without the need of sliding up the button power?? what software do i need in order to get this custom firmware to work?? i was also confused about the part when u says about recovery screen??? u have to undergo the recovery screen in order to exit from 2.6 to 1.5 right??? anyway, further help will be gladly appreciated!!!

read teh top part. That explains what this is in Dax's own words.
Then go to the downloads section on the LEFT panel.
when you want to do the MODULE thing, PM me and I'll send you my set up so it doesn't confuse you. If you want anything changed, I'll walk you thru from there.
The RECOVERY screen is only for when you want to change anything. You never need to go there to do anything, so just ignore it. You WILL, however, be taken to the RECOVERY screen if you hit L + R + UP (dpad) when launching a game.
NOTE:
L + R + UP is an old trick made for DevHook where, when you press teh button to start a game (ISO, UMD) instead of actually launching the game, it will go back to the v1.50 XMB. BUT - In order for this to work, you have to have the Reboot module in the ms0:\dh\kd folder. If you don't have a Reboot file in there, let me know. and NO it is NOT the msreboot.
Now, when you hold L + R + UP, the Memory Stick access indicator will flash once then it will stop. At this point, let go of all the buttons and then the access indicator will start blinking again. Hurry up and press L + R + UP again at this point and itstead of going to the RECOVERY screen, it will take you home. (v1.50 XMB) I have NOT confirmed this to be true, but someone told me on MAXCONSOLE forums and they know what they're talking about over there, so I believe him... So, to answer your question, NO you DO NOT have to do a hard reset. Only if your PSP freezes.
The only software you need for this is in the link at the top of this message.
You will have to go to teh recovery screen to get to v1.50 XMB ONLY if the method I described above (holding L + R + UP, release and hold again) DOES NOT work.
Here is how it will happen:
You flash your PSP w/ the module. You set the folders and config.txt file to your PSP in their respeKtive places.
Do a hard reset. Turn your PSP back on. Within 5 seconds, you will be taken to your Favourite homebrew. No $ony Computer Entertainment screen, no anything.
So in my case:
I do a hard reset. I turn it back on and within 5 seconds, I'm taken directly to the DevHook menu. I chose this b/c it is my fav homebrew AND b/c I have the option to EXIT if I don't feel like using it straight away. Then, when you hit EXIT, you're taken back to the v1.50 XMB.
Say I'm in 2.71 emulation mode and I want to go to v1.50 XMB. Either A: I quit the game I am playing or B: I am already in 2.71 XMB. At this point, I choose to run a game, but put my fingers on L + R + UP. Assuming you have the Reboot, you will be taken to Recovery mode. at this point, you hit HOME. (I haven't tried the tip from MAXCONSOLE yet, so I'm telling you the way I do it.) When you hit home, the PSP will re-cycle and bring you back to the DevHook menu. At that point, you hit EXIT at the bottom of the menu and you're back to v1.50 XMB.
It sounds like a lot, but it's just as fast as being in 2.71 emulation, doing a hard reset and turning the PSP back on.
I hope this answers all of your questions... (for ANYONE who reads this)
If you need the files, lemme know and I'll post 'em on the web.
:)

Yes, john... The POC (Proof of Concept) is what you want.
I will upload the files and since you want AUTORUN to go right to DevHook, just keep mine. That's how I have it set up, so you'll be all set w/ my config.
And YES - you can still use homebrew. This DOES NOT upgrade or downgrade your PSP's FW. It only makes it better and gives you more options!!
Here are my files:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/9tgmcy
Now I called the files I uploaded "POC_CustomFW", If there IS NOT a folder inside the ZIP archive, make one called "Module", then put "AIOMod.prx inside it. That's it. (I put a "readme" file in the ZIP archive so you know what to do.)
Btw, check out this Gran Turismo Edition Ceramic White PSP - It's BEAUTIFUL!!!!

Good luck. PM me w/ any questions!

You don't do anything with the src folder. It's just the source code for the custom firmware app.

you have to make sure you hold the L + R + UP on dpad - it's the one that looks like this ---> +
and just keep holding until you see something happen. DO NOT LET GO until you get to the Recovery mode. (Recovery mode is a BLUE screen)
Did you like it so far thos? It HELLA tight!!! I LOVE it!!!
Just make sure you have the Reboot in ms0:\dh\kd (MUST NOT BE EBOOT. MUST BE REBOOT NOT "MSREBOOT", EITHER. GOTTA BE REBOOT)
also try it in kd folder in 271 folder. I can't remember, but I think there is one there.
I am getting off the computer now, so I will have to help you more tomorrow!
Hope you get this working, John!
Peace,
guano

guano, everything is working fine, just having trouble getting to the blue screen. i did hold the L + R + up which is the volume button that looks like +. stil doesnt have any luck. and yes i double checked to see if i put reboot in the \dh\kd folder. everything was in their placed, when do i press the L + R + up?? am i suppose to go to the game tab first or i have to launch the game then press all of these buttons simantouesly?? do u have step by step pictures that show me how to do it?? i mean it shouldnt be confusing, it gets frustating for me cuz i have been doing it so for long and also i placed the module file in the root of my memory card. got any idea why the L + R + up wont cause the blue screen to appear. thanks, this fm custom is really nice by the way, it goes straight to the homebrew without ever encoutering the sony enternainment part. really nice indeed, now if i could only get the recovery screen to appear, it would be fantantic!

John,
There is a better way. You don't even need to get to Recovery mode anymore. Here is a shortcut:
btw, the "+" is NOT the volume button. The "+" I'm talking about can be found ABOVE the analog stick. It's the UP, DOWN, LEFT and RIGHT directional pad.
WHEN YOU HOLD L + R + UP: (ONLY USED TO GO BACK TO v1.50 MENU)
RIGHT after you launch a game! Press the button to launch a game and as soon as you launch the game, press L + R + UP SIMULTANEOUSLY until the Memory Card light STOPS blinking. Then let go. You will be taken all the way back to the v1.50 XMB. (Main menu) This is much faster than what I said yesterday. I know, because I tried it this time.
NOTE:
In order to get to recovery mode the EASY way (if you just want to see what it looks like) Just hold R on a hard reset and it will go to the Recovery screen.
This is very nice mod and will make things better for v1.50 in the near future.
I hope you had fun! If you want to change anything on this program, just PM me and I can help you.
Peace,
guano
