ok, so i just decided i would ask you guys about what they patch in each firmware. i know this so far (its in simple person talk)
1.0 (the most virgin firmware, able to run almost anything without a kxploit) Homebrew capability:YES
1.5 (The favored firmware, all homebrew is compatable with this version and most homebrew is created for this version) homebrew capability: YES
1.51 (the update eliminated the ability of homebrew being run, im not sure, but i think someone found an exploit for this firmware, so pathetic sony made 1.52) Homebrew capability: NO
1.52 (another pathetic attempt to stop homebrew) Homebrew capability:NO
2.0 (This firmware is very good. it allows you to downgrade to 1.5) it also has a tif overflow exploit, which does allow you to run homebrew, somewhat. Homebrew cabability: Somewhat
2.01 (sony's patch to stop homebrew) no downgrader for this version, however, it can run the gta ebootloader, which lets you play some homebrew, but not much) Homebrew cabablility: SOMEWHAT GTA LCS REQUIRED
2.5 ====>(as of just a few weeks ago, its possible to downgrade to 1.5 using the gta eboot loader and dark_alex's downdater. it can run eboot loader so it can play homebrew. homebrew cabability:somewhat with eboot loader)
2.6 =====> (this firmware can also downgrade to 1.5 if you don't have a TA mother board because it does not have a patch for the gta eboot loader. There were no security patches for this firmware and can be downgraded with dark_alex's downdater) Homebrew cabability: somewhat
2.7 ====> (this is a very high firmware, if you updated this high, you are a noob, no offence, just accept it. Sony patched the gta exploit, thus no homebrew and no apps can be loaded on this firmware....yet! there may be an exploit in the flash player, but it is doubted. Sony really patched this firmware well. If your firmware is this high, you are a sony slave and a homebrew noob. there may be a downgrader, but dont get your hopes up, it will take time, sux for you)
2.71 ===> (not exactly sure what this update was for. May have been to patch the kernal mode checker thing that downdater uses. I'll have to look it up. If your firmware is this high, you are a sony slave and a homebrew noob.maybe be a downgrader. sux for you)
Sam fisher watches you
