I just acquired some true HD material and I needed a way to hook up my PC to HDTV(Sony 57"). The material in question is in 10801 so hooking it up via s-video was out of the question. My Tv lacks Hdmi or DVI so I had to look at someway to hook it up via component. I found this and wanted to make sure this would work.

I have a 9600 pro but it being replaced by a 7800GS next week so I just wanted something that would work with both cards as my 9600 pro is going into one of my older PCs. I just want this able to view rips Ive downloaded online no need capturing signals or what not so would this work?

"Trus HD" is 1080p, not 1080i. But, to answer your question: Yes, that cable will work perfectly fine for your tv, since component can handle up to 1080p.

I'm guessing you have a projection screen tv, yeah? What is the max resolution your tv can handle? (remember that just because a tv has RGB input, it doesn't mean it can handle HD.)

When evolution selects its agents, it does so at a cost, makes demands in exchange for singularity, and you may be asked to do something against your very nature. This force, evolution, is not sentimental. Like the Earth itself, it knows only the hard facts of life's struggle with death. All you can do is hope and trust that when you have served its needs faithfully, there may still remain some glimmer of the life you once knew.

from the website

Important note : Breakout cables cannot transcode video signals from VGA to/from Component and can be used in the below instances:

Video output device with VGA connector output VGA/Component signal.

Video projector/Plamsa VGA input can accept both VGA/Component signal.

in other words it is used for equipment that can accept both types of inputs, and unless you are using a high end plasma or a hd projector these cables will probably not work for you since there is no circuitry to transcode the information. if you are insistant on doing something like this, get a video card that is mean't to do it.

I don't know about nvidia but ati sells a dvi to rgb adapter that works with there 9500 and up cards, the cards have the circuitry and program built on them to do the transcoding.
