Hey skater685!
Mine says only 11GB free.Where the heck did the 9GB go?When they said that the hard drive disk capacity is 20GB,i really thought that the whole 20GB would be used in game saves or maybe 1 or 2 GB maximum would be used for configurations and settings, but to see that almost half of the capacity is already booked, that's the thing i don't understand, just same as you.
If only someone could explain this thing to us,that would be really helpful :)

Nope!Did not download any demos,i just got my 360 yesterday. But it's a modded one,not by firmware flashing but by using modchips. So do you think that maybe the technician who performed the mod did add some settings or configurations that may take so much space like that?

yea almost half the space on the drive being already used sucks and i really think they should come out with a bigger one atleast maybe 40gb if not 60 or more, my music collection alone takes up 20 lol....but anyway the reason that space is gone is because the emulation software used to play original xbox games is stored on the hdd, and yes apparently it does use quite a bit of space, but this is why you need the hdd to be able to play regular xbox games.....personally i think they should have made the hdd slightly bigger like 30 gb perhaps and just advertised it as 20gb, but i guess they decided to rip you off as usuall

Im not a fan of the backwards compatiable thing. I bought a new system i want to play NEW games not just play past gen games thats corny.granted you spent money on the old games but oh well ur investment is in the new not the old... I use my console to save things that its really meant to do and thats save video game stuff not tons of music, i mean is all that neccessary when playing a $400 console?i've saved 10 xbox live arcade games and saved all ive needed to from 12 different games i own and on top of that 7 cd's and have 11gb left...what the hell are you guys saving that takes so much space up,use ur cpu to store music or get an i-pod

and i do have an ipod and all of my music on my pc but i hate hooking my ipod up to my 360 becuse then it charges your ipod when its connected and charging it when its only half way dead or so is bad for your battery, it will last longer and stay at full life longer if you let it go all the way dead first then charge it fully

yea i know, so as i said before the emulation software to be able to play original xbox games takes up almost half, but becides that there is some other stuff you may want to delete, i dont know if you know about it already or not but for anyone wondering the hdd comes pre loaded with quite a few videos and some music and things like that, i think 2 of the videos alone such as the one about the titanic takes up about 1gb by its self and there is another one that is somthing like the creation of the 360 that takes up alot also so if you didnt know about that stuff you may want to delete it if you dont ever watch or use it, and i dont think anybody would want to listen to the pre loaded music, lol

nah by excess trash i meant the stupid videos and albums the 360 has stored on the hard drive out of the box. i got about 3 gb back from deleting that and i dont have the program to play old xbox games. like i said i have about 10-12 arcade games, 12 games with all the saves,7 cd's,4 demos and after all that i have 11gb left.meaning i essentially can have 20-24 arcade games and 24 regual;r games saved, with 14 cd's and 8 demos and still have a gb left. use it for gaming and its just fine.

yea i guess that works, i think deleting the emulatioin software gave you alot of extra space that other people dont have, so btw how do you delete your emulation softwar if i decided to do that, or does your 360 have to be modded in some way because mine isnt

yeah that would be great....also in oblivion, when in the dungeon area, when i close a door,it sounds like an office door closing, shouldn't it be like a hollow sound...unrealistic...
