I just installed this last night - my first piece of 2.0 howebrew using the eboot loader/TIFF exploit.
I'm assuming I did the eboot installing correctly, I downloaded the latest "auto" installer and it placed all the eboot files on the PSP mem stick.
I'm also assuming I put PMPlayer where it's supposed to go, since Eboot launched it without any problems.
But I'm having trouble with media! I got am MP3 to play, and a 320x240 MPG file played for about 5 seconds before crashing... but I haven't had luck with a 480x272 DivX.
I encoded an XviD and DivX at a bitrate of about 900, one with sound and one without. Selecting either of them just caused the PSP to turn itself off.
I am placing the movie files in the PSP ROOT directory.
Any suggestions?

If its PMP you must convert you movies to .PMP
Try PSPlayerMT, it plays most formats.
Oh hang on it is PSPlayerMT your using....It doesnt matter where you put your movies, they can be put in any directory.

Hey Sudds thanks for getting back to me, I left you a PM on PSPVideo9...
Yeah I seem to have everything where it should be, but when I tried to play a 480x272 AVI the PSP just turned itself off.
Do you have a link to any sort of test AVI that is confirmed to play with PSPlayerMT? I'd like to be sure it works.
I've seen in other forums people having this same problem but I haven't seen it addressed yet...
If you have a test file you can email out, please send me a PM!

What codec did you use with your AVI container?

I encoded both a DivX and XviD at about 900kbs. One with, one without sound.
Does PSplayers have all the codecs built-in, or do I need to somehow install them in the PSP?

No legend999, you need a 1.5 Firmware PSP which can obviously run homebrew...to run the PSPlayers...

Same with me, I wasn't able to play anything except PSP videos that I encoded on that player. But the good thing I was able to play was the iPOD MP4 files that you can download anywheres these days...So if you have lots of iPOD encoded stuff play it with this player as it doesn't run without it...at full speed too.

Yes I have a 2.0 PSP. You CAN run some homebrew using the Eboot loader. PSPlayerMT is a homebrew media player that is supposed to work with 2.0 and up using this exploit.
But I'm having trouble with it!

Are you sure? It says this on PSP Updates today, announcing the PMP Mod subtitle mod:
"Version 2.01 of this subtitle mod can now support 2.01+ firmwares with the use of eLoader and both the GTA and TIFF exploit (thanks to tommydanger's help!). Speaking of 2.01+ firmwares, Raphael writes, "since we now have a working downgrader for 2.6, I don't provide any further updates on the 2.0+ version, unless I get enough feedback that it is still wanted. Version 2.01 for 2.0+ will still be available though."

Maybe it is Mojo, on his own website it states that this app does not work with firmware greater than 1.50

Ok, I think it DOES work... Raphael, one of the coders of PMP Mod, posted this after I asked about his comment on 2.0 compatability on PSP Updates:
"You don't think I would have written that if it wasn't true, do you? But that's actually old news already. v2.01 for firmwares 2.0+ was released over a month ago."
check out my homepage:
http://wordpress.fx-world.org
I ran it on my 2.0 PSP and PMP Mod *did* boot up. It was late so I didn't have a chance to convert and try a video, but it's supposed to work! I'll report back tomorrow.
