I heard from a friend that there Translation Patches for PS2 Games that aren't in English. I have google for a PS2 Translation Patches but have had no luck finding any. Does anyone kno if thats true? because i have been looking all over for FFXII english translation patches but i can't find any.

No. There are no translation patches for Jap PS2 games. It'd take a team of coders and translators years to translate a PS2 game. Most coders/translators do so in their spare time, as a hobby. There's never been a fully translated Jap to English PS2 game that I know of.

i've heard that Winning Eleven 10 has been translated before and what if you have access to a source of the game script translated into english, like there - http://ff12trans.pbwiki.com/

Could a patch be made from that.

Actually I vaguely remember something about an English patch for WE as well. It's possible, but you'd have to have some skills with code and scripts, and be able to translate Jap to Eng. I'd imagine in a game like WE, there's not much to translate other than menu items and some commentary. I doubt they bothered translating commentary, probably just menu items. That's a whole different ball game from a plot oriented game like FFXII. Imagine the amount of translation from the average RPG. That's a ton of work.

just wait for the english version to come out, no one will work on an english patch because it takes longer for them to do that than waiting for the english version to be released

okay that game comes out in about 3 months anyway. I gonna jus learn Japanese i have always wanted to anyway. I watch alot of unlicensed anime too. I should learn it sooner or later. Thnx for the help Tokijin and dan168

I've thought about picking up Jap as I watch a lot of subbed anime, but it's just a pain. The Japanese language has over a million characters and is generally considered the second hardest language to learn, behind English. Not trying to discourage you, I think Jap is a fantastic thing to learn, just be patient, not someting you're going to pick up overnight.

Japanese... majored in that in uni along with my Engineering degree, and I still wouldn't say I'm fluent in that, good thing all the good anime have fansubs :D

As Tokijin said, translating a RPG takes forever (having said that, there ARE some RPGs that got translated, mainly on SNES - Star Ocean, DQ5...)

Wait patiently for FFXII to be released... it's worth the wait :)

Yeah I was even trying to think if any PSX games have been translated, and I couldn't come up with any. I know Dejap got started on a few, but never finished them. So that I'm aware of, nothing past the SNES has ever been completely translated into English.

Wow, sorry to bring up an old topic... but this came up first when I searched for PS2 translation patches.

I can only think of 2 import games that people have made translation patches for... Tobal 2 for the original Playstation (fully translated), and Fire Pro Returns for PS2 (partially translated, creator is shooting for full translation, working in stages)

Both patches are awesome.
