Ok im gonna buy some 50 Sony DVD-R Discs, and i came across 10 Ricoh 8x DVD+R discs for $9? are they fake or what?i dont know if i should buy them. Also wondering if Imation is a Good brand and if TDK is another good brand? Ive found some Verbatims but all of them are CD-R so i cant find any DVD-R.Should i still stick to original Sony Discs.

I've used two spindles of fifty sonys. They work good for data, I seem to have tossed at least 5 to 10 from each spindle. But for game backups, I would have to say no. I have some that play great, some that sound like a self destruct sequence has started, then some that just don't want to work. I can burn the same iso to a taiyo uden, or however you spell it. And not a single prob. No strange sounds, no hangs. For the price they are about the same. I'm not advertising but look at this link and check out the taiyo brand.

Well i already got 4 games backuped on Sony discs, Rugby 2006,Fight Night Round 3,The Godfather and Brothers in Arms:Earned in Blood.I was also wondering if the media makes the playstation give reading noises when playing. It only does that when im loading a level or playing a level.I have Swap magic 3.6 , ive been asked to reinstall it and i have it does the same? so could it be the media.I also cant afford Taiyo as they are expensive and i can not get ahold of them.Ill try and see if i can buy some. But please help me with this.

actully if you order online Taiyo Yudens are about the same price as you would pay for the Sony if you buy them in a store like Best Buy.
They are $32.99 for a 50 pack. Supermediastore.com
Or you could get Verbatims for much cheaper than that, and they are also good.
I have only used Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden and Philips for any length of time. Mostly Philips 8X DVD-R but have recently switched to Taiyo Yuden. I have heard many people who liked Sony DVD's and a few that did not. TDK is about the same. I used them for a bit but they are not very consistent.
I have heard that the Maxcell discs that are made in Japan work real well. And Memorex are just plain bad.
