ok so i bought my 360 on saturday, and admittingly last night i left tomb raider in my xbox and then disconnected it and took teh hard drive off just to look around...and put it back together, today i tried to play it and it would not not turn on!!! the power unit's light is on and orange, when i try to turn teh 360 on using teh controller the green ligts on the controller just keep flashing...
and my 360 won't turn on...so i phone microsoft, spent an hour on teh phone, half that time registering my xbox(or they would not help me) then they told me i should take off the face plate and push a paperclip into a small little hole, which i did teh dvd drive popped out and i took teh disc out,my my xbox still will not turn on...i'm sick of this stuff,i've had my ps2 for two years without hitches like this...it's only 5 days old! i've had it with xbox and their crap...the guy on the phone could not help and their for i'm gonna just return the xbox 1.5 to the store where i bought it from,i want a full refund, which i can get under teh consumer garuntees act and then i'll just pre order a ps3 from sony, screw microsoft! i am defianatly not impressed!

I'm really sorry for you skater685.You're not the only one encountering problems, there's much more if you read some posts in other threads. But in your case i agree with you being so angry like that.
I got mine exchanged today after having the hard task of proving them that in fact there was really something wrong with the one i just bought three or four days earlier. In fact i was getting problem about the disc tray.Sometimes it won't open or would keep on opening even of i push the close button,it would close but would quickly re-open again and sometimes it would play fine. But that was unacceptable enought to use a 360 where sometimes it's ok and sometimes not.And the worst part is that before yesterday i brought it back to that store and there it worked perfectly and should go back with the same 360 because there was no problem to their eyes.
Yesterday night too i got the same problem and luckily i got the idea to film a little as proof just in case it works properly in that "magical" store like in the first case.Today morning tried it again and got the same problem.Quickly went to that store again where without any surprise it works well on the first try and showed them the little recording i made about the problem. This was what started to make them think that there may be really a problem about that 360 until after i ask them to turn it off and turn on again, then they finally got the problem i was talking about.
Seeing that i was right, they replaced it by a new one, tried it there as precaution and it's just fine.I really hope it will hold for quite a very long time like my old PS2.
But one thing i got to say is that it seems that 360 is deceiving people and making them angry ,just like your case, more than making them happy.Ms should really check and fix these problems if it wants to keep its clients from going to buy the near coming PS3.
Vincent.

Yeah I spoke to both of you guys about your problems. It sucks what's happening to some folks.
skater has had nothing but problems since getiing it.I can't blame either of you for being angry this is a very expensive piece of hardware.Personally Ive had a psx,ps2 and ps2 slim model and all worked for years they never broke down nor had any problems.
The reason we(me and my family) got a 360 is because our original xbox broke down.We had alot invested in the games about 75 games so we figured just get a 360 so we could play those and the next gen stuff.I hope it doesn't break down or over heat.I'm not rich and can't take it back now hopefully I'll get at least 4 yrs out of it which it what I got from my nintendo and sony consoles(actually they still work so 4yrs and counting).

Dude!17 Nov is still a long way to go.And you know how Sony's very good at always postponing the launching date.I hope you won't get bored during this so.....long waiting.I think you should give that second 360 a try, maybe your luck was not on the first one but is in fact on the one you just got today.I consider myself not lucky on the first one too and now i'm playing my another brand new 360 which i just got yesterday, without any problem(however i do cross-fingers for it to have the longest life as possible).Guess the luck of getting a top 360 mostly comes on the second unit :)

Why would we want to do that?
Taking it back you will get a new one or a refund so why would we go buy another one. Then we have 2.
Look mine works fine I haven't had any problems.I am abit concerned though.

Yeah that's true, the PS3 too won't be perfect,it will definitely create some anger and disappointments just like the 360.Even if Sony is taking very long time in fixing some bugs, after the launch there will still be some problems existing and some more arising.

aggreed.
Every console has problems. If you own enough as I have it's bound to happen to you sooner or later. For me I've owned every console since NES and they generally all have a great life span.Ive only had 1 break down on me and that was the original xbox. Some will experience bad things when ps3 comes out that's for sure.
Spend your money on what you want and if you come to the conclusion that something is made cheap just don't buy anything else from them.I had a toshiba laptop that gave me nothing but problems and to this day I won't even touch anything toshiba makes.I'm so much happier with my hp desktop and look back on it as a learning experience and laugh.
Someday you'll look back on this and laugh and say you know what that taught me alot.

But he just bought the 360 like a few days ago... all problems should have been ironed out since its first release. I agree that every console has problems but to have it happen alot and even way after the first models just isnt right.

Were the faulty lasers the thing that made the PS2 get disc read errors? That didnt happen right away tho it started about a year or so in the PS2's life. Not 3 or 4 days after u bought it like the 360.
Im kinda afraid for the PS3 tho cuz there could be be some long term issues with blue ray that no one knows about.

well iv had my xbox 360 replaced once because it would scratc the discs without me even moving or jogging the xbox.
xbox must have a lot of faulty xbox's returned everyday.
sometimes i have trobel with my new xbox 360's dvd tray.
you can open it and when its quarter the way out sometimes it james and you have to eject it about 10 times to fix the problem.
do you think mine may need replacing ?

yeah kahn, it'd take just enough time for your warrenty to run out, then your laser would go out (yeah that's one of the causes for DRE) atleast w/ the 360 it'd more then likely be under warrenty.....and if not oh well, glitch if your 360 is still under warrenty you might as well.
