You guys are blowing me away here, with the knowledge I've seen in a few threads. I am a pretty intelligent guy and can fix most anything with my hands, but these freaking computers stump me every time.

This W32Myzor.FL@yf virus is kicking my butt. At least I think that is what I have.

I have Norton, and use Webroot Spysweeper too, both are finding nill. I know very little about computers. They just confuse me really. A lot of this language is like Greek to me.

Saw something about the Hijack program, and tried to download it, but I keep getting an error screen telling me I should buy some software from some site called syssecuritysite.net. Seems fishy to me. They want my credit card info and all that jazz. I keep getting redirected to this site.

Anyone know anything about this site? Or what I should do? Help me out please and I would be eternally grateful. Virus writers are douche bags.

Thanks

You guys know waaaay more about computers than me. Teach this ignorant one please.

Welcome BradCB to AD!

Okay I am not sure what software you have but let's start with Hijack This. I believe that is what you were referring to. Download it at hijack-this.org. Don't worry about the warning that it gives about being an advance user. You won't do anything until you are told to. Now be sure to download it directly to the C drive. You may create a shortcut to it but you know exactly where it is, when and if you get ready to remove it.

These are a couple of other programs that you can find at download.com

1) Lavasoft Ad-Aware
2) Spybot Search & Destroy
3) If you do not have an anti virus program download AVG (free)

Now go to http://www.ewido.net/us and download that Ad-Aware program

Now that you have all the programs you need reboot your machine in safe mode. Press F8 over and over during the boot up and a screen with options will appear. Chose safe mode only in the options given. By doing this no start up programs will run. While in safe mode run both Ad-Aware programs. Then run Spybot program and after that run a virus scan. If the virus scan finds a virus then make sure to remember the virus name and location to report back to us. (Example: c:\windows\system32\virus_name Or it may be in a different location but you see what I mean.)

Now reboot the machine again and run HjT (Hijack This). Don't do anything with HjT afterwards just post the log for us to look at and include and viruses that may have been found.

After you post your log we will be happy to help you get your machine running smoothly again!
