ummmm...... here

3. The Finishing Blow
+-------------------+

Def Jam: Fight for NY is unique in that simply running an opponent out of
life won't knock them out. It takes an especially powerful blow to end
a fight in this game. With that in mind, I'll address what can KO people
and what can't. Unless noted, the victim's life MUST be in the Danger Zone.

-------
STYLES:
-------

Kickboxing: Kick combos. Note that this attack must come from a Strong
Grapple. Hit the kick button rapidly to make sure your opponent doesn't
reverse it. You can KO your opponent even if their life doesn't start off
in the Danger Zone. The combo must go at least seven hits and it must
eventually bring the victim's life into the Danger Zone.

Streetfighting: Haymakers. Note that you can deliver a Haymaker from either
a standing position OR from a Strong Grapple. Both have their uses.

Martial Arts: Flying attacks. Simply run toward a wall and press either
the Punch or Kick button. Your character will rebound and deliver a
powerful strike...assuming your enemy is nearby, anyway.

Wrestling: Any Strong Grapple.

Submissions: Obviously, using Submissions. While not a KO per se, a win
is a win. Concentrate on one limb for maximum results.

--------------
OTHER ATTACKS:
--------------

-Any Blazin' Move.
-Any weapon.
-Any wall/object attack, except one: if your character runs your opponent's
face against a wall/fence, it will NOT KO your opponent regardless of
whether or not his or her health is in the Danger Zone. I'm not sure if
this is random or not, although it appears to be. Fortunately, it doesn't
happen very often.
-Any crowd attack as long as the crowd GRABS your opponent. If they simply
shove him or her back to you and you attack from there, it will NOT result
in a KO. If you want to use the crowd, make sure you HIT, not THROW, your
opponent into the crowd.
-Any attack off a turnbuckle or other climbable object.
-Fire.
-Subway trains. As one would assume, the victim's health does not matter.
-Three attacks against the same window. Again, health does not matter.
-Ring outs. Only works in the Dragon House, but it still does the job.

I found this on a walkthrough http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/file/def_jam_fight_for_ny_figh...

You do know that to do different moves you press different directions ;)

eg get in clinch by pressing grapple button (o)
Then you can press either up, down, left or right with either square or triangle to do differnent moves.

If you use submissions as a style the different directions and triangle will work a different body area (head, leg or arm) inorder to work submissions :P

Hope that wasn't patronizing and stupidly obvious but took me a while :P

Street fighter ,If thats the only style you have ,you wont be able to do to many moves but punch or K.O punches with strong graples,Wresting give you the most depth and more moves ,and if you strong grapple with wresters you can K.o them if their life bar is in the red. I had a link to all the hidden styles like dunken ,tiger claw, kung fu ect. but deleted it I tried every hidden style the only thing is if you want them you have to start with martial arts first then add other styles off the top of my head M.a/S.F/Wr is drunkin boxing Also if you start a style other then M.A it will be the over powering style like starting with kickboxing (Kb)when you weak grapple you can knee 1 or 2<-push off) times or once and do a knee to strike/wrestling/submissions combo .starting with wrestling you get moreee reachhh you can grab someone half way across the screen ,and you can turn you opponent around (like in Def Jam V) for back grapples or even if you grab an opponet from behind while you are blazing ,hit the right analog stick and you will still get your blazing move off. Submissions started first the only thing I found out starting this first was you got the option like wrestlers to turn your opponent around like wresters ,and do back submissions cool also. well i gave my break down as well as others lol also when you pick your first style save it and turn autosave off ,make more money to buy the next two styles then buy them, try the combinations out if you dont like them !It didnt save! so just quit the match you are in, and switch the styles around. This saved me SOO Much Time Finding a good kick ass style instead of being stuck with shit I dont like ,then deleting the charater ,and start alllll over again.I hope we all helped oh and Ice ,bling make you meter go up faster. buy the biggest diamonds/chains possible with a few moves you get a special. the crowd loves ice
