I have downloaded a movie (legally) and it has 1 bin file and 1 cue file, i am very new to this and so do not understand how i can write the movie to a dvd. The bin file is 797 MB and the cue file is 176 bytes, it seems like the bin file contains the movie but how can i write this to a DVD?

right first off you have to have a dvd-rewriter and some burning software i presume you already have some burning software it may have come with your dvd burner, one of the most common programs is "Nero". So i shall tell you how to burn your movie with Nero although these steps should be almost the same in any burning program.
Open up Nero. Slect dvd as your type of disc. Then in my version of Nero it is under the "Copy and backup" tab hover / click your mouse on this "copy and backup tab" then there will be an option that says burn image to disc (it may have a small icon showing a cd and a match stick).
Once you have clicked the "burn image" option you will then need open up the .cue file so u need to slect the .cue file which is like a file that contains a link to the .bin file. When you tell Nero to burn the .cue file it reads the .cue file which then tells Nero to burn the information contained within the .bin that the .cue belongs to. So simply slecet the .cue then once you have some blank dvd media in your dvd rewriter then you can click burn and just wait for your it to finsh burning. it will say its complete then you clikc ok then click done in the bottom right hand corner (on my version) and it should eject the disc out of ur recorder for you and then you should have your movie successfully burnt onto dvd =]

so lets see now you say that you downloaded this movie (legally), ok and they did not tell you how to use the file? where did you get this file, the site? most sites that have movies for download have them in a AVI,dvix,VOB or some format like that so you can watch the movie on your putter, all though there is a site that lets you download and burn to disk and it is a pay per download not sure what the price is, what programs do you have for converting? need some more info! ok? iso buster is a good start and thain vso dvixtodvd would work also, what is the name of the movie? and how much did it cost? if it is a good deal i might go and check out the site. happy burning and have a nice day
Ok i am downloadin a trial version of Nero right not... thought i had it but i dont.... thank you very much with the help.... could i also ask the correct way to burn a .avi file to a dvd it is 696 MB, i have tryed a few times but my dvd player has said 'unknown dvd' or 'check disk'
Ok i have found out that this is a VCD file i think, when i did what you said it came up with 'unexpected exception'. I wrote the bin file to a dvd without using the cue file and that did not work. I thought that mayb i could write to a CD but there is not enough space. Where should i go from here?
