I'm just wondering, I have Comcast Cable internet and play battlefield 2 alot. But ever since i upgraded from Bellsouth DSL to cable I lag on Xbox Live quite a bit and sometimes lag all the way out. My DSL ran at around 120 KB/Sec to 150 KB/Sec download speed, and around 30 KB/Sec upload speed. My cable internet that I have now runs at around 765 KB/Sec sometimes but not very often runs alot slower at around 250 KB/Sec download speed, and the upload speed stays at around 45 KB/Sec. When I had DSL I don't remember lagging as much as I do now, but I didnt play but a few games a week either, now I play quite a few games a day and many of those games I lag alot, but some i dont lag at all, and usually it doesnt matter how many people are in the game. Do you think that my speeds are high enough to play, I think my speeds are pretty fast compared to DSL or to anything else for that matter. Do you think that its me thats lagging so badly or the people I'm playing with?
yea i was almost sure it shouldnt change anything especially since its faster than what i changed from but i figure those speeds are surely fast enough, i know some games may require more speed than others becuase, for one some games like battlefield 2 have more players than other games, and im not sure but i think it may have somthing to do with the speed of gameplay, and the number of things occuring at once during gameplay, but if someone could clarify that, it would be nice
maybe it's just your ping time? or a bad time of day with your current company, but in any case i would personally would never go from dsl to cable, dsl is way faster, well were i'm from anyway, dsl is like 5 times faster than any cable...
i dont really know anything about ping time, but comcast does normally have bad times a day when my internet is slower than usuall, but as i said even during a bad time it usually runs at around 250 KB/Sec and the upload speed doesnt change, as for changing from dsl to cable, it was cheaper and faster, im not doubting that in your area dsl is faster than cable but i live in a small town and about the only choices for internet are bellsouth dsl, comcast cable, or dial up, dsl usally ran at about 120 KB/Sec and my cable that i have now runs at about 750 KB/Sec, so i went with the faster cheaper one, i do wish we had more than 3 choices for internet in our area though
