Hi all,
I am thinking about buying a laptop and i was wondering which type of processor i should get. As far as i can tell the best choices are the Intel Centrino Duos (dual core) or teh AMD Turion 64s. I cant seem to find any AMD dual cores for laptops out there and i was kinda leaning towards the Intel. Any info would be helpful :D

it comes down to personal preference and getting the best deal on performance that you can. i'd go AMD, but that's because i'm a fanboy. be sure to research all aspects of the compie and buy from a reputable company.

well i was thinkin of this one cos i can only spendup to maybe $1250
http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11117911&whse=BC...
i always liked toshiba, but have heard bad things about most other companies. Costco seems to be the best place to get this model price wise so i chose there.
As for the other companies:
Dell seems overpriced because i tried to build the same exact laptop on their site and it was considerably more expensive. Sony also seems overpriced to me. Gateway and emachines r the same company since they merged and i would buy 1 of those but this seems to be the best I could find for the price. As for HP and Compaq, which r the same company, I have heard numerous reports of them selling faulty equipment and then taking forever to replace it.
o well tahts just the info in my mind

thast a little too heavy for me :/
8 lbs is a lot to be carrying to class everyday... esp when i take a bus and gotta walk to and from bus stop. Also, its a HP and ppl i know have had very very bad experiences with HP so im gonna avoid that. Thanks for the suggestion tho. I was lookin at a 17 in. a while ago but it was just too heavy and it got like 2 hours battery life :/ in the end i decided on this 1 because of weight and it gets almost 2x the battery life. I figured i wouldnt need a 17 in. screen on a laptop. :)

Xevlys - what about a laptop carry case. Most of the new sonys are kinda light(i would get one of those)
Auslander - i was gonna get that laptop aswell but i wasnt sure of the graphics card. Its much cheaper in the us than in the uk.Comet is charging £999.99 for it and Currys is charging £699.99.Big difference by walking 100 metres
