I have the Evox D6 Blue Bios in my xbox and I have used Slayer's Auto Installer. I want to upgrade my bios to the X2 4976.02 bios (so I can play new games without having to worrying about patching, which i dont know how to do) How do you upgrade your bios. Also, can someone give a good step by step explanation of how patching works, i dont understand it. Thanks.

This is a great question that I am also looking for the answer for. I used Slayer's auto install and evox D6 red and the evox dashboard flashing option isn't available with the dashboard. Is there some other way to flash the mod chip without taking it out again and connecting it to a programmer?

And people wonder why I hate Slayer's.
Anyways, you should be able to just put it back into the .ini file. If you find an unaltered .ini you should be able to just copy the stuff about flashing from there, and then download the bios and put it on the xbox to flash from evox.
I'm not saying that this will 100% work, it's just a thought. I actually reccommend just taking all the software from slayer's and puting evox back on the way it should be.

Considering Slayers was the only evox dashboard install I could get to work via cdrws my options were slim to none otherwise.

If slayer's worked on your CD-RW's, but a regular evox boot disc wouldn't, then you could probably just add a dummy/fluff file to a regular evox boot .iso and it would read it. This is especially true if you have a Thompson. So, far that is the only case where I have found it necessary to add crap files to make the disc bigger.

HI if you want to flash up to 4976.02 slayers can do this for you (2.1) pop in the slayers disc and scroll down to flash bios and follow the on screen options ,,also you might want to update your bios checker to 1.9, as 1.8 does not support the 4976.02 revision

i installed the X2 bios (the Red Noani one) unto my matrix chip. everything loads up the same, except that it's worse. i can't play my previously patched games that worked with the evox blue bios. i tried loading it into my xbox hdd without patching it and it still doesn't work. i think that it's the executioner chip thats good, X2 bios doesnt work that great with matrix chip. Now i have to switch back to the old evox blue.

OK I GOT IT, I loaded the evox by itself and ditched the slayer evox install dashboard(it is possible to do via flashfxp by replacing the evox.ini file and the evox dashboard file)-then I switched my mod chip to mode 4(writeable) and flashed it(I had prior placed a folder named bios with the x2 bios in my C drive via flashhxp).

hey drew, thanx and sorry for being too hasty without checking for the right bios version. Anyways, i flashed the chip with Xecuter2_4976.02_MultiVer_256k bios and my old backups worked but then i placed my brute force game into the harddrive using Xcommander, as you said, it just freezes the loading screen when i tried running it. Any more hints? Thanx

Are there any games that don't work with the Xecuter2_4976.02_MultiVer_256k. bios? I haven't run into any yet in my experiences(I haven't bought a lot of games recently besides NBA Street 2 though). Thanks

I really don't know why it wouldn't work at this point you pretty much have the same setup as me and it works for me. Why don't you give me a little more detail about how you backed it up. Maybe it's just some small mistake.

Matrix/Xodus with a 1.1 xbox.
-And yes you have to uncompress the rar file to get it to work properly as a bios file.

right i have done the bios thing cheers all.
the other thing i wish to ask is..
i understand with the bios i now have flashed, most if not all recent games dont need patching! right?
if so then what about all the games i installed on hdd b4 i upgraded my bios? they still dont work! dont get me wrong all the ones that used to work still do!
will i have to delete these and install them again now i have the new bios??
the problem i started with was that i bought enter matrix(original) and it wouldent even load so i installed it on hdd and took it back!
will this game now load if i went and bought it again?

hey john, have you tried loading brute force from the hdd. i tried it again and again and it always just hang in the loading screen. this is what i did, I placed the game in, went into Xcommander, created a new folder "brute" in F:games\ then copied the all the game files into the folder. after that i restarted the xbox and loaded "brute force" from "Games" then it just shows that brute force loading screen for a few sec and then freezes.

alright, I read the other posts on upgrading the bios, but I'm still not sure how to do it, what do I choose on the slayer's disk to upgrade my bios. Can I do this with out opening my xbox/reflashing the chip (matrix)? where do I put the bios in the c drive? by the way I want to install X2 4976.02 noani red bios, if that will work with my chip.
thx

they came out with a newer version 4977. i flash mine with the programmer because i had a few bad flashes before, besides you still have to open the box to switch it to mode 3, 1-off 2-on. then the chip will flash orange. i didnt use slayers but i know there's a bios folder in the c: drive where you place all your bios in. you flash the chip in the evox menu.
