xbox 360 dvd help :(

i have a 360 and have the high definision output to my plasma,
but when i try and play a dvd with the high definision mode on all i get is a black screen and a green line at the side of it.
if i turn the hd switch of on the side of the video output switch it works fine but has rubbish quality.

now i read in the official xbox 360 magizine that you can play a normal dvd on hihdefinion on xbox 360 and get a 480i output picture but as i said i just get a black screen.

is there somthink wrong with my xbox 360?

Are you sure you have the right AV Cable plugged in in the back of the 360 when you switch it to and from HDTV mode

yeah i have all the right cables plugged in because i can play games in high definision but i canplay normal dvd's in high definision and i read in the official xbox 360 magizine that you can play dvds in high definision in 480i
i can play dvds if i turn the hd switch to standard definision but the quality sucks :(

so im wondering have i got yet another faulty xbox 360?
