I have wondered the same exact thing. But considering devhook redirects flash access to the memory card, maybe it would update it but flash the files to the memory stick. Thats my theory. Most definetly not a stupid question.

just thinking of what it could do, i think it may ( not 100%) write new flash to the memory stick as, like you said, devhook, uses the mem stick as flash access, and earlier i tried to run an iso through devhook through irshell while listening music, as sson as the 2.71 fw starts the music stops which means the, whole idea of 1.5 on the psp has been forgotten. mmmmmmm? lol

so firmware 1.5/1,5 flash is completely forgotten,
im almost certain that itll write new flash to the mem stick. im not gonn try it though lol
