I have downloaded dvdfab's 30 day trail and it allowed me to copy one movie but not the other is this because i just downloaded the trail version? Do I need to purchase the program to download the other movie?

DVDFab Platinum will let you use the program during the trial period and you can backup as many movies as you want. If you are getting an error with the program then your disk may be scratched/smudged or have some other kind of imperfection. Try cleaning it with some soap and water or take it back for another original.

You can also dl the free ripper part of this program, DVDFab Decrypter, then rip to your HDD and use the other free program DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter/ImgBurn to compress and then burn you file. Since DVDFab Platinum is a pay program you may want to look into the free ones as an alternative when your trial runs out.

DVDFab Decrypter is just the ripper part of the pay program DVDFab Platinum/Gold/Express. You can not only rip with the pay but compress and burn. The program is similiar to the old XCopy in the way it works.
