I have been copying Indian DVDs perfectly for about 2 years now using DVD Shrink.
But I recently bought a couple of DVDs, and have tried to copy some of them, it analyses the movie & copies the menus fine. But when it goes to copy the movie to the hard drive the following error comes up in DVD Shrink - "Failed to read file E:\" - Data Error (cyclic redundancy check.
There is also an extra folder on the disk. With the AUDIO_TS & VIDEO_TS, the extra folder is called JACKET_P. Does that make a difference.
No, that jacket file is just an image file of the DVD Jacket art, such as the cover art, it is not transferred. Sounds like you either have a damaged or scratched/smudged disk, in which case try cleaning it or returning it for another original. Or the disk has protection on it that Shrink cannot handle. Download DVDFab Decrypter and rip the disk to your HDD and then process your ripped file with Shrink and burn as usual.
DVD Decrypter is a good alternative for older movies, since it has not been updated in over a year it needs some help from other programs to get past the new encryption. RipIt4Me will integrate with DVDD and it will then be able to do new protection also AnyDVD running behind DVDD will let rip new encryption.
