SwapMagic 3.6 Suddenly Fails

So suddenly my Swap Magic discs fail, yet official disks work fine.
What happens is it will load up like normal suddenly the graphics's colour (on the swap magic load screen before you get to the load game/choose region setting screen) goes red briefly before blanking out, then the load screen will return and it goes blank again and takes me to the PS2 page where you can go into your memory card and click x to play on the disc in..

I'm pretty sure this isn't to do with the DVD being scratched as the CD does exactly the same and I have only ever put that in once or twice by mistake thinking it was the DVD.

The only thing I could think of is some dodgy save file?? Should I try delete some of the recent save files from games I've downloaded?

Doubt its anything to do with save files. Try the disc without your memory card plugged in before you go deleting saves that you dont need to.
It sounds more like a laser related issue. Try cleaning ti with a cotton bud dipped in an alcohol based cleaner.

It's not the memory card, are you sure it will be laser - because it loaded one of my official ps2 games okay.

I'll get some cleaning stuff I guess, thanks.
