xbox 360 controller not recognized on windows

i just got the xbox 360 controller rechargable battery pack and i tryed to attach the usb from my wireless controller to the computer and windows says new device found, usb device, and thats it, i installed the drivers from microsoft and i plug it back in and it still says found new hardware. Anything im doin wrong?

You can't use your wireless 360 controller on a PC. Only the wired one.

actually the controller connector at the front of all wireless controllers does work when onnected to a wired usb charging cable with windows but only certain wireless controllers worked with this and current new wireless controller models no longer do because microsoft found a security hole that would have allowed 3 party developers to build wireless controllers and microsoft cant allow that to happen
