I've calculated that if i buy a macbook (with all the specs i want) or an iMac, I'd be paying the same. The only difference in specs with both computers if that the iMac has a very good video card, but the macbook is portable. Games are not # 1 on my priority list, but they're still there. I would really like to have my mac portable, but i want to know if it's a good trade of. The ideal game i'd like to play would be world of warcraft, and many RTS (warcraft 3, age of mythology, and if possible, age of empires 3). I have a Dell pentium 3 now, and i can't play games, nor can it come with me when i leave home. I'd like some help on picking what would be better. Portability or Power. Please note that i'd be getting 2 GB of ram on my macbook. Thanks

first off in order to get a good macbook to do all of this you are looking at anywhere from $1699 to $2499 for a good mac book with a good graphics card and my recommendation is just buy a full system because the mac book allthough not a bad laptop only comes with a 80 gig hard drive and will cost you a additional 300.00 to get a hard drive that works better

The macbook is ok, but you have to remember that it has no video card, so if you put in 2GB of ram you only get to use 1.5ish of it for system use because the rest is used for the integrated video ram. The portability is nice but the screen is really small,(especially compared to the 17 or 20 inch iMac's) its only a tad bit bigger than the 12 inch monitors on small laptops, not ideal for games or high end applications. The other factor is the harddrive. The macbook's harddrve spins at 5400 rpm unless you upgrade it to a 7200rpm(this takes a toll on battery life though). If none of these prblems seem significant to you than go for it. The macbook is a great machine and if you want to go portable then do it!
