Why is my AVI files Not Valid

hi all,
I know how to turn mpeg to VCD
But I cant turn AVI to MPEG I tried sevral Programz...
Actually one program worked for One AVI file
But when i tried it for another AVI's It didnt work Somone told me coz the soud format for the commpressed AVi is MP3 ?!!? But I dont know
anywais dose anyone know a program that works
P.S: someone told me about a program called vcd Build But i couldent find it...

try tmpgenc its a nice encoder but if your avi's are divx you will need divx codecs 3.11,4.0,5.02.... you should be up and encoding in no time......
